General Description of the Programme:
SENED is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization licensed and registered in Türkiye with the number 27-15-175. SENED Organization was established shortly after the Syrian Nakba and in response to the suffering of millions of Syrian refugees in Turkey as well as internally displaced people in Syria, to alleviate suffering, achieving justice, equality, and freedom, strengthening the role of civil society, and supporting and developing the local community. SENED works in the humanitarian work sectors to support, empower, and educate the community through several programs, takes exceptional care of people with disabilities and their families and defends their issues.
SENED Association emphasizes creating safe, accessible, and participation-encouraging living conditions for individuals’ emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development by focusing on people with disabilities. Beyond the medical perspective on disability, it tries to find solutions to the problems faced by disabled people with a holistic perspective by considering the disabled people, their families, and the society they live in, focusing on the conditions they experience. SENED Association aims to create a safe and supportive environment and space by conducting family-oriented activities to help disabled individuals and their families become stronger, discover their potential and stand by with their children. By collecting data on refugee-disabled people and identifying problems and needs, SENED strives to ensure harmony between disabled refugees and local people with a voluntary, professional team and a community-based approach. All activities, education, research, advocacy, etc., are carried out on platforms created by local and disabled refugee people.
Job purpose:
· The psychosocial support facilitator will be responsible for implementing psychosocial support and mental health activities with children with disabilities and their peers in Azaz.
Duties, objectives, and competencies:
The psychosocial support facilitator in Azaz will work in the field under the direct responsibility of the Protection Officer. The facilitator will:
· Implementing group psychosocial support sessions for children with disabilities and their peers without disabilities.
· Implementing integration activities between children with disabilities and their peers without disabilities.
· Contribute to developing plans for the sessions.
· Monitoring beneficiaries and drawing the attention of the direct manager to cases that need special attention and referral to more specialized services.
· Contributing to writing session reports.
· Maintaining the psychological and physical security and safety of beneficiaries.
· Providing an appropriate environment for psychosocial support sessions and preparing the supplies and needs for each session.
· Respect and apply all principles of protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, and demonstrate a high commitment to reporting any sexual exploitation or abuse.
· Conduct field visits and tours within the established programs.
· Implement referral procedures to the support service, supervision and individual follow-up when necessary.
· Archiving documents and reports related to each case within its own file (paper + electronic)
· Determine the dates for evaluating cases, the dates for individual and group sessions, and follow up on the cases’ adherence to appointments and sessions, attendance and absence.
· Including cases within the rehabilitation program and dismissing them from the rehabilitation program in the event of (non-compliance with sessions – failure to train the child – abuse of workers (in agreement with the supervising specialist).
· Preparing the necessary means to implement individual and group sessions.
· Assessing the psychological state of the beneficiaries’ families and making an internal or external referral if necessary.
· Implementing parental sessions for caregivers about their child’s disability (its causes – ways to prevent it in the future – methods of treating and rehabilitating it – services that must be provided to them and services available within the local community and activating the role of parents in the rehabilitation process)
Requirements: Essential
· A university degree in psychological counseling, special education, social service, or any related academic qualification.
· Experience working as a psychosocial support within civil society organizations (at least one year).
· Experience in providing individual and group psychosocial support sessions for children.
Requirements (desired)
· Good background in dealing with children and people with disabilities is his/her preference.
· Written and verbal communication skills.
· Familiarity with and commitment to humanitarian standards.
· Certificates of attendance at courses in the field of protection, psychosocial support and special education are preferred.
· Good proficiency in working with the Office suite of programs.
