JOB SUMMARY

PSS Worker in a Primary Health Care Center assists individuals with mental health challenges by providing supportive care, facilitating therapeutic activities, and collaborating with healthcare teams to promote recovery, well-being, and access to necessary resources.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. identify the needs, strengths, and vulnerabilities of children and their families in the wake of disasters, do thorough psychosocial assessments of them.
  2. Work together with the MHPSS team and other important stakeholders, create tailored support plans that ensure a person-centered and all-encompassing approach to care.
  3. Assist people and families with emotional support and counseling while addressing the psychological effects of trauma and disasters.
  4. Coordinating referrals and resources: To satisfy the various needs of the impacted population, determine and arrange access to the necessary resources and services, both within the organization and through external partners.
  5. Establish and maintain strong partnerships with the community, neighborhood groups, and pertinent agencies to ensure a coordinated response to the psychosocial needs of the target population.
  6. Make sure that children are safe and well-cared for in all facets of the program by being alert about recognizing and responding to child protection problems.
  7. raise knowledge of mental health, coping mechanisms, and accessible assistance, plan and lead psychoeducational workshops for kids, families, and community members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Should have the following skills, education, and experience:

  1. Bachelors in social work or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in providing social work support to individuals and families impacted by trauma, disasters, or conflict-related stress.
  3. Knowledge of child protection principles and experience in working with vulnerable populations, particularly children and families.
  4. Familiarity with MHPSS principles and interventions is advantageous.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.
  6. Fluency in Arabic. Basic understanding of English is an asset.
