Terms of Reference Psychologist – Jordan

Terre des hommes (Tdh) Jordan delegation is seeking to contract 2 Psychologist (1 Male/1 Female) services.

  1. Organization and Context background information

Terre des hommes Jordan (Tdh) was established in 2007 in response to the Iraqi refugee crisis. Since then, the Migration programme has evolved into responding to various emergencies that have affected the country at different periods in time, including the Syrian refugee crisis. In 2013, Tdh works in the Emirati Jordanian Camp (EJC) since 2019 responding to CP needs via a comprehensive package of intervention. Tdh is resuming its activities in EJC since the end of 2019 under an SDC-funded project of three months. Tdh is one of the few service providers in the camp, which is mostly underserved and disconnected from the general humanitarian response ongoing in the Country.

Tdh has been implementing Enabling access to specialized child protection services to children at heightened protection risks, and particularly child labour and child marriage, and strengthening Child Protection systems in Karak, Irbid and Mafraq Governorate.

The psychologists are supposed to be under the supervision of the project senior officer.

  1. Objective and deliverables of this assignment
  • Establish an intervention plan to organize support groups for children and their family members, according to project objectives and indicators: structure of the sessions, titles, goals, methodology, tool, etc.
  • Receive family members requesting support, internally referred by team members and other agencies; Assess their psychosocial needs.
  • Set-up groups according to needs identified: groups of mothers, fathers/ women & men, other family members.
  • Conduct support group sessions with children and children’s parents/caregivers, , and other family members (aiming at basic counselling, awareness raising, psychosocial support to allow debriefing, and to encourage mutual mechanism, etc.).
  • Identify and refer parents or children in need of specialized individual psychosocial and protection support and refer them to the case-manager.
  • Collaborate closely with the project’s team to discuss cases and activities.
  • Keep documentary record and update of all group sessions: plans, monitoring, feed-back, running of the session, etc.
  • Shares on a weekly basis an activity report and every time this is requested by his/her line manager.
  • Collect and provide any qualitative and quantitative data requested by the line manager

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Regularly collects for feedback and the level of satisfaction from beneficiaries to better inform adaptation and contextualization of the support groups’ sessions
  • Conduct, when relevant and under the supervision of the SPO, Focus Group Discussions and key informants’ interviews.
  • Provide information as requested to support the production of monitoring reports, including reports to donors.
  • Collaborate with the Q&A department and the project’s team in the post distribution monitoring exercise and support the draft of report to evaluate the satisfaction with the distribution, assistance process and to analyze the adequacy of the support.
  • Where requested work with members of the Q & A team in order to support the development and implementation of appropriate monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Collect and provide any other qualitative and quantitative data requested by the SPO and proceed with data entry on a daily basis.
  • Ensures the mainstreaming of key child protection principles, such as child participation and best interest of the child, confidentiality and non-.discrimination.
  • Support the monitoring of the adherence of the team to Tdh’s Child Safeguarding policy and PSEA.
  1. Key deliverables

Each Psychologist to deliver 8 sessions of the “Support Groups” manual to a minimum of 45 beneficiaries. (The 2 Psychologist are supported to cover in both governate, Mafraq & Irbid)

Provide qualitative and quantitative reports.

– The contract will be from the 5th of June 2022 till the 31st of August 2022

  1. Requirements for the expert
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology,
  • 1 year of minimum experience as a psychologist in conducting support group session/ group counselling.
  • Acquainted on MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services) Global Guidelines, the CPMS (child protection minimum standards) and Principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessment, case management and counselling skills with children and adults.
  • Familiar with the context of refugee children in camp settings, children at risk of violence and especially SGBV.
  • Diplomacy and ability to confront and discuss sensitive issues.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English languages.
  • Good Computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Very strong planning and organization skills.
  • Manages time and priorities, and meets deadlines.
  • Cooperates and contributes to achieving goals.
  • Respect for others.​ 6.Ethical considerations

The consultant/consulting agency must sign the Terre des hommes Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct and be willing to adhere to its principles and expected practices. If a breach of the policy or code of conduct takes place the consultancy will be terminated immediately without any financial burden on Tdh. 7.Disclaimer on copyright, data protection

All documents, project designs, drawings, data and information shall be treated as confidential and shall not without the written approval of Tdh be made available to any third party. In addition, the consultant(s) formally undertakes not to disclose any parts of the confidential information and shall not, without the written approval of Tdh be made available to any third party. The utilization of the report is solely at the decision and discretion of Tdh. All the documents containing both raw data/materials provided by Tdh and final report, both soft and hard copies are to be returned to Tdh upon completion of the assignment. All documentation and reports written as, and as a result of the research or otherwise related to it, shall remain the property of Tdh. No part of the report shall be reproduced except with the prior, expressed and specific written permission of Tdh.

The expert will work under the leadership of the Project Senior Officer of Tdh Jordan delegation.
