Partners seeks qualified candidates for the position of Public Sector Liaison for a potential project financed by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) that aims to improve adherence to international labor standards in the agricultural sector in Ecuador. The project aims to address evidence regarding the prevalence of child labor in the banana and cut flower sectors, as well as to build awareness and capacity to mitigate the risk of other labor rights abuses, including forced labor, and to support efforts to address occupational safety and health issues. This position reports to the Senior Director of the project.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain working relationships with all project stakeholders, including coalition building and partnership promotion.
- Ability to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and provide all required inputs to deliverables.
- Must devote a minimum of 50 percent level of effort to the project.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Background:
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in the area of government relations and experience working with Ministries of Labor and programs targeted at identifying and eradicating child labor, forced labor and other labor abuses.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with all project stakeholders, including coalition building and partnership promotion.
- Understanding of key labor issues, including child labor, forced labor, gender discrimination, workers voice and workplace exploitation.
- Ability to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and provide all required inputs to deliverables.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
