IRVD is implementing projects through regional offices in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, and Somalia.
Our work sectors are Health, Nutrition, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Protection, Shelter &Non-food items, Wash and Sanitation.
IRVD also manages development projects, advocates to empower civil societies and local governance.
Job Description
IRVD is seeking quality assurance Officer in the Blood Bank that plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of blood banking operations. This position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring quality assurance and quality control systems to maintain high standards of quality and safety in the collection, processing, testing, storage, and distribution of blood products.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs for blood banking operations, in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of blood bank facilities, equipment, processes, and documentation to assess compliance with QA/QC requirements and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics related to blood product quality, donor screening, test accuracy, adverse events, and customer satisfaction, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate proficiency testing and external quality assessment programs to evaluate the competency and performance of laboratory staff and ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Investigate deviations, non-conformities, incidents, and adverse events related to blood banking operations, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
- Provide training and education to blood bank staff on quality assurance principles, regulatory requirements, SOPs, and best practices to ensure understanding and compliance with quality standards.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and quality improvement projects within the blood bank department, using data-driven approaches and quality improvement methodologies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of QA/QC activities, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and quality-related documentation, in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Ability to:
- Proficiency in conducting audits, inspections, and root cause analyses, and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with regulatory agencies and external auditors.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation, records, and compliance activities.
- Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying abreast of changes in regulations, standards, and best practices in blood banking and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with specific experience in blood banking, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of blood banking regulations, standards, and quality assurance principles.
Languages:
- Arabic and English are mandatory (oral and written)
