Conservation International (CI) has been protecting nature for the benefit of all, for over 30 years. Through science, policy, and partnerships, CI is helping build a healthier, more prosperous, and more productive planet. Today, with offices in more than two dozen countries and a worldwide network of thousands of partners, CI has a truly global reach.

With support from CI and Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KEMFRI), relevant data inputs will be collected for production, the environment, economics, livelihoods, and their interactions. The Offeror’s activities will allow relevant stakeholders to gain access to existing data on historical trends and present conditions, while developing processes for ongoing data collection, analyses, and dissemination to monitor the development of the sector and inform sustainable growth.

The contractor will inform data collection criteria and methods, construct the backend data analysis tool(s), and develop a publicly accessible online data management platform for Conservation International and the aquaculture sector in Kenya. A complete beta version of the data analysis tool and online user platform is expected to be completed by 15 September 2022.

The contractor will develop an online data management platform for Conservation International (CI) and the aquaculture sector in Kenya with functionality for automated collection, collation, analysis, and regular dissemination of information. CI and KEMFRI will engage stakeholders within and connected to the aquaculture sector to collect relevant data on environmental, economic, and social impacts and interactions. The contractor will use this data to develop an online platform which provides information on the current trends of the aquaculture sector. Key stakeholders will then be able to use this information to inform the sustainable growth of the aquaculture sector in Kenya.

This project will allow relevant stakeholders to gain access to existing data on historical trends and present conditions, while developing processes for ongoing data collection to monitor the development of the sector.

The contractor’s specific responsibilities will include:

● Support CI and KMFRI engagement of aquaculture sector stakeholders to enhance participation, ownership, and buy-in for the project and the data management platform.

● Contribute to the development of data sourcing, sharing, management, dissemination, and communication protocols.

● Design and construct data collection protocols and the data analysis tools that display current and historical trends of the aquaculture sector in Kenya

● Build and test a fully functional online prototype data management platform that receives, synthesizes, and displays data from and for specific aquaculture sector stakeholders.
