About Amal Healing & Advocacy Center

Amal Healing & Advocacy Center (AHAC) is a women-led organization that specialized in empowering women, who have experienced psychological symptoms resulting from social and sexual violence within their family or community.

AHAC seeks to contribute to creating a change in the status of women in Syrian society and to support them in becoming more aware of their rights and opportunities.

The motivation to start the organization was led by the desire to contribute to building a Syrian society based on fair and equal human rights in an independent civil state.

The organization was founded in 2014 in Antakya, Turkey, which is located near the Syrian-Turkish border, and strives to respond to the needs of Syrian refugee women, survivors of violence in particular.

Job Details:

The AHAC team is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Referral Officer-Legal to support an AHAC legal department under the #Aswatuna Project in Support of Families of Missing and Detained Survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking referrals and managing the Intake process in its entirety, including the administrative aspects is a key responsibility for the Intake and Referral Officer/Receptionist
  • Take referrals for new beneficiaries over the phone and personally.
  • Ensure all referrals are managed professionally.
  • Refer all beneficiaries onwards as required.
  • Maintain intake data collection systems (e.g. forms, database) and ensure the information management system is updated with beneficiaries referred on as required.
  • Collaborate with management to continuously review the process and suggest improvements as necessary.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate records of all referrals in and out of the project
  • Provide relevant and appropriate referrals and information.
  • Effective engagement with beneficiaries on calls.
  • Provides effective and relevant information and support options to beneficiaries and third-party callers.
  • Communicate relevant information to other Counsellors and Team Managers during critical handover periods.
  • Consult and work with the legal advisors on duty to assess and manage at-risk beneficiaries as required by operational procedures.
  • Traces all referrals from the project, including recording referrals made, and following internal protocols for timeliness and quality of tracing.
  • The referral officer supervises the preparation of the weekly report of the legal department.
  • The referral officer receives documentation cases for the survivors of arrest and the families of the missing and transfers these cases to the partners.
  • The referral officer assists the team in preparing referral forms

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • University degree in Legal, Social Sciences, or another relevant field.
  • At least 0-2 years of working experience in a similar position with a local or International NGO.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good English written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports.
