Tdh :

The Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh), with headquarters in Lausanne and an office in Zurich, is the leading Swiss child rights organisation with more than 2000 employees worldwide. We stand together with children to uphold their rights, protect their lives and improve their well-being. We achieve this through innovative programmes focused on health, migration and access to justice, specially designed to have a positive and sustainable impact.

Tdh is currently engaged in a decentralization process under which the Regional Office for Africa will be created in Senegal mid-2025. This will generate managerial changes at both HQ and regional levels. The Health Coordinator for Africa will be a key actor contributing to the establishment of the regional office.

General Context :

The Health Program at Tdh works to contribute to the sustainable reduction of morbidity and mortality of pregnant women, newborns, and children under five, and to the reduction of child malnutrition. Tdh’s Health Program looks for existing accurate life-saving interventions, adapts and implements them in all circumstances including in fragile contexts, and pilots innovative tools, conceived and implemented with renowned partners at local and international level. Tdh leverages and exploits the technological advancements for more cost-effective, impact relevant and efficient country-driven interventions, making them suitable and sustainable for scaling up.

Each action of Tdh’s Health Program is embedded in the local health systems, with a strong focus on developing local partnerships (including with the local private sector, academia, and others), pursue sustainability and economic viability, and aim at scaling it up for systemic changes. Tdh strives to support health systems to maintain their capacity to effectively respond to existing and arising needs in various contexts (emergency, chronic crisis, development) without the disruption of existing services. In exceptional cases and in coordination with local authorities and other actors, Tdh temporarily delivers health services directly to affected populations. The voice of communities, families, local authorities, and partners are heard and integrated in Tdh actions. A user-centric approach guides the conception and development of Tdh activities. Tdh’s Health Program is focused on improving access to primary healthcare services for vulnerable children and mothers in rural and semi-urban areas of Africa, Asia, and MENA regions.
