Job Overview:

As a Regional Operations Manager, your mission is clear: to strengthen operational management through mobile support, operational escalation, and gap-filling in our priority countries. Your expertise will be instrumental in enabling our teams to respond effectively to evolving humanitarian needs and crises across the region.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that our regional teams can adapt operations based on changing contexts, optimizing our response strategies.
  • Provide stability to priority country operations over time and contribute to strengthening emergency preparedness and response operations in the region.
  • Work closely with country managers and regional team members to foster collaboration and synergy, enhancing our overall humanitarian impact.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and management support to priority countries and regions, ensuring timely and quality responses to emergencies.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for our staff and partners, empowering them to deliver high-quality assistance.
  • Offer technical support in thematic areas such as health, WASH, cash, and protection, enhancing the quality of our program delivery.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to priority countries, providing recommendations for improvement and ensuring the effectiveness of our projects.
  • Work closely with country managers and regional team members to foster collaboration and synergy, maximizing the impact of our humanitarian efforts.

Mission-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and management support in priority countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, contributing to stability and timely responses to emergencies.
  • Co-lead the establishment of our operations in Bangladesh, working closely with the Deputy Regional Representative to ensure successful implementation.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for National Societies in the region, strengthening movement emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
  • Participate in movement regional and country coordination forums on disaster preparedness and response, fostering collaboration and coordination across stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A Higher University Degree, with specialization applicable in health, WASH, or cash-based programs, is an asset.
  • Significant humanitarian operational experience, with a proven track record in disaster preparedness and response.
  • In-depth understanding of operational standards and systems, coupled with the ability to build capacities and foster collaboration.
  • English proficiency is required, with regional languages considered a significant asset.
  • Ready to be deployed on short notice, with the ability to travel extensively within the region.

Reporting to:

  • Deputy Regional Representative, Asia

Position is based in:

  • Pakistan or Bangladesh. Extensive travel and frequent relocation within Asia region (outside of mission base), including outside of Asia region, for a minimum of 6 months within a 12 month’s period is required.

Contract length:

  • 24 Months
