Overview of position
The Regional Public Health Officer (RPHO) will work under the supervision of the Regional Medical Officer (RMO) and technically
reporting to State Public Health Officer/Coordinator. The Regional Public Health Officer (RPHO) will perform the following duties:
Role objectives
- Work in collaboration with Regional Medical Officer (RMO) and other partners, ensuring collective coordination,
monitoring and supervision of all public health related activities in the assigned region. - Provide technical support, conduct technical supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the district public health officers
work in the region including communication and information sharing with RMO (Regional Medical/Health Officer) and other partners. - Support the public health programmes as an integrated part of revised Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS) (2020) implementation.
- Coordinate surveillance, detection, and response to public health emergencies at regional level including
weekly reporting of priority epidemic prone diseases; immediate reporting of alerts/rumours for investigation and monitor
anomalies in alert notification. - Be responsible for coordination of all activities related to campaigns, emergency response including prepositioning
of emergency supplies and monitoring utilization of these supplies during health emergencies. - Supporting the coordination to all public and community health programs and activities at regional level including Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), disease surveillance, EPHS implementation, Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child (RMNCH), Universal Health Care (UHC), Nutrition and WASH.
- The Regional Public Health Officer (RPHO) should be flexible, adaptive to perform additional assignments as may be directed by the supervisor.
- Serve as intermediary for communications between states and district team.
- Be responsible for ensuring the district and community teams under his supervision are trained on information management tools and systems ensure quality data is shared in time.

Qualifications
- Essential: Graduate degree or higher diploma in health-related fields. Master’s degree in public health is desirable.
Experience
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in the field of public health.
Local Knowledge
- The officer MUST be from the local area and have a good working relationship with the authorities and a good social relationship with the community and elders. Should be able to move around the assigned district with no restrictions.
Skills
- Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office.
- Report writing skills, data analysis and presentation skill.
