Purpose of this function

As a relationship manager for charity shops, you are the point of contact for the national shops and volunteers spread throughout the Netherlands. Your portfolio consists of shops that you mainly provide service and a sounding board for.

Position in the organization

You will report to the Manager Retail Operations & Volunteer Support and will be part of a team of 7. This team focuses on continuing the existing local and national store network and volunteer support and involvement.

Together with the Retail Communication & Business Development team, we form the store support team, with a total of 10/11 team members. The store support team is responsible for a well-functioning store network, where customers and volunteers feel at home and supported. This network consists of more than 40 stores and 1700 involved volunteers. The store support team offers the entire network experience in Retail, Sales, volunteer involvement, administration and legal support.

You work closely with the regional store coordinators and volunteers for intervision and sharing of best practices, colleagues from Finance & Control and also contribute to the operational support.

What are you going to do..

The relationship manager charity shops focuses on relationship management, providing service and making the core teams independent (team of volunteers that coordinates the daily business in the shop). You fulfill a function at operational level and are primarily responsible for the following areas:

  1. People

You embrace the idea that volunteers are the foundation of the stores and are responsible for realizing complete core teams and sufficiently large volunteer teams. To do this, you work together with your colleagues from store support and the volunteer recruitment coordinator.

You are responsible for a good working atmosphere and a safe working environment in the stores, you monitor the implementation of the appreciation policy and the implementation of the safety checklist. As an inspirator, you move the core teams to run the store as independently as possible.

You act as an escalation option in case of conflicts. Your span of control is between 24 and 40 core team members and 180 to 300 volunteers.

  1. Result

You have everything in your backpack to make the relationship with the shops and volunteers a success and you are able to fulfill the service needs of the shops in a pragmatic and efficient way. The shops are an important part of the fundraising strategy of Terre des Hommes Netherlands.

  • 6 to 10 stores spread throughout the Netherlands
  • You focus on cost reduction and profit optimization.
  • Prepares an annual plan and budget for the stores and monitors progress with the retail operations & volunteer support manager.
  • Coordinates cash control and financial store administration.
  • Provides input to the strategic annual and multi-year plan of the TdH shops foundation.
  • Take advantage of opportunities and developments in the market that fit within the strategy of the Terre des Hommes organization.
  1. Implementation Policy
  • Implements the volunteer and store policies.
  • Provides input for new policies and working methods (including contract management, community activation and online activities)
  • Is responsible for safety, occupational health and safety and compliance with relevant laws, regulations and compliance within the stores in the own portfolio.
  • Your area of ​​responsibility has a lot of overlap with colleagues from store support. You work closely with them to improve the service level for the entire store network.
  • Actively shares own knowledge in the field of relationship management and service-oriented approach to improve the service level of the store support team.
  • Is responsible for the entire operation of business management and store systems (cash register, accounting, utilities & telecom, etc.).
