Research Associate At ECPAT International

ECPAT International is a global network of organisations working together for the elimination of the sexual exploitation of children (SEC) in all its manifestations i.e. exploitation of children in prostitution, online child sexual exploitation, sale and trafficking of children for sexual purposes, sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism and some forms of child, early and forced marriage. The ECPAT Network currently consists of 122 members working at national and local levels in 104 countries.

Position Details

The ECPAT Research unit is managing various research projects and requires an Associate for research and administrative support.

Key tasks

  • Assist in coordinating and provide input for publications of the research team, including on position papers, journal articles, internal reports and documents;
  • Support in conducting secondary literature review;
  • Input and support the development of donor proposals and reports particularly in relation to research area as requested;
  • Support development of research tools, including through use of specialised software
  • Assist in supporting ECPAT network member research queries and requests for technical input as needed;
  • Assist in technical editing and verification of text and sources of key research and policy publications as necessary;
  • Work with ECPAT’s designer to complete layout of research publications;
  • Coordinate the organisation of project-related meetings, including attending and taking minutes;
  • Liaise with suppliers and consultants, such as translators and editors, including contract preparation and procurement support;
  • Other tasks as required to support the team.

Consultant Profile

  • Experience in desk-based research;
  • Knowledge on child sexual exploitation and abuse;
  • Accountability;
  • Ability to work autonomously and multi-task;
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time and meet deadlines;
  • Fluent in English language;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Management and Reporting Arrangements

The Consultant will report to the Head of Research and Learning of ECPAT International and work in collaboration with other members of the research team.

Additional Information

  • This is a home-based position; the consultant will work from home but should be available online during hours agreed with their supervisor, and be available for communication with different time zones.
  • The Consultant is expected to act at all times in a manner consistent with the values of ECPAT International and in compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures including Child Safeguarding Policy and the Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Initial assignment will be for one year, with full-time engagement
