PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
An effective national response to COVID-19 requires collective efforts by the global community, multi-sectoral coordination at the national level, development partners, and other entities. The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) consortium is well positioned to support the Royal Thai Government (RTG), community partners, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. This provides support to strengthen the Thailand Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), provincial, and community capacity to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and mitigate its impacts on morbidity and mortality. Its objectives are (1) to accelerate widespread and equitable access to and delivery of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccinations (2) to reduce morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, mitigate transmission, and strengthen health systems, including to prevent, detect, and respond to pandemic threats.
JOB SUMMARY:
- The position of “Research Coordinator (based at Department of Disease Control)” is responsible for coordination and management of research projects, including COVID-19 and other related diseases, for Research Unit, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health by developing the project proposals, coordinating and managing the research projects, providing technical assistance on training and advice to the members of the research teams, and coordinating for drafting manuscripts and publishing the articles in the medical journals.
- Employment term: December 2021 – July 2022 (8 months).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating the activity implementation of research projects in accordance with the missions and regulations of Research Unit of Department of Disease Control.
- Developing the research proposal to be submitted to the funding sources.
- Administering and managing research projects with quality, effectiveness, transparency, in the timely manner as well as other required conditions.
- Providing advice and guidance on technical aspects, research management, research progress, and research-related problem solutions to the members of the research teams of Research Unit.
- Supervising and managing the budget spending of the research projects with efficacy and transparency. Also, conducting the risk assessment and management for providing the recommendations to the members of the research teams of Research Unit.
- Supporting the members of the research teams in developing the research proposals and publishing in the Thai and international medical journals and providing recommendations on drafting manuscripts and managing the article for publishing in medical journals.
- Assisting in training/advice for capacity building of the staff regarding research management such as honorable commission and public health officers.
- Linking the research findings with the policies and publishing them to different target audiences
- Other duties related to research projects regarding COVID-19 and other related diseases as assigned
EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY:
- Knowledge, experiences and specialized in public health research. If experiences in the topics on surveillance, disease prevention, control and treatment are preferable.
- Knowledge and experience in using information technology
- Good coordination, project management and reporting skills
- Good English communication skills
- Be able to work under the pressure within time constraints
TYPE AND NATURE OF CONTACTS:
- Work station is based at Research Unit, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health.
- Routine coordination between FHI 360 staff and team of Department of Disease Control
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Usual office working conditions, as well as working from home conditions; ability to travel domestically
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Master of Science in public health or related field.
- Working experiences with government agencies or public organizations is preferable.
