Chemonics seeks a research manager for the Iraq Regional Program 2 (IRP 2), a USAID Office of Transition Initiatives (USAID/OTI) program based in Iraq. Drawing on the recovery gains made by the first iteration of the Iraq Regional Program, IRP 2 aims to increase stability in Iraq by improving conditions that allow for durable returns in areas liberated from ISIS while mitigating discrete emergent challenges that threaten overall stability. This position has the option to be based in the MENA region or Erbil, Iraq, as long as the candidate is in the same or similar time zone as Iraq. S/He will report directly to the Chief of Party (COP). We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain a strong understanding of political, social, and economic developments in Iraq
- Manage the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research efforts
- Produce quick analysis reports emerging and new trends
- Manage consultants and subcontractors supporting research efforts
- Design and delivery briefs on different research topics
- Review and ground truth reporting for accuracy and provide feedback
- Facilitate discussions on emerging issues in Iraq
- Review and share research products produced by others
- Develop and manage a knowledge management system
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in relevant field required
- A minimum of four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods, including desk research, surveys, focus groups, and online data collection
- Strong analytical skills, writing abilities, and written and oral communication skills
- Ability to coordinate with a multifaceted team and collaborate with colleagues to collect data and produce high quality research products in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize multiple work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise good professional judgment
- Capacity to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, partners, including local NGOs, and governmental entities
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Experience working with statistical software preferred
- Prior experience on stabilization or humanitarian programs preferred but not required
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and oral Arabic and English is required; written and oral fluency in Kurdish and other local languages is preferred, but not required.
