Responsable MEAL – Mali (f,h,x) At Médecins du Monde – Belgique

WHO ARE WE

Médecins du Monde is an international medical development NGO that is part of an international network. We provide medical assistance to vulnerable groups, in Belgium and the rest of the world. We want universal health coverage where everyone has access to care, without obstacles.

In Belgium and around the world, our projects are aimed at all people who have no or no longer access to health care. In particular, they are structured into five axes: people on the margins of society, children in vulnerable situations, women, migrants or displaced people and victims of crises or conflicts.

To carry out our mission, we base ourselves on three pillars:

  • Treat  : provide real access to care for populations.
  • Change : more than helping, we want to change things in the long term.
  • Testify  : we do not remain silent. Thanks to our experience and our presence on the ground, we challenge the authorities (local, regional and (inter)national) with facts, figures and realities.

Our projects follow a series of values common to our entire organization: Social Justice, Empowerment, Independence, Commitment, Balance.

CONTEXT

Since 2002, Médecins du Monde has acquired significant experience in responding to medical and nutritional needs in Mali and has become a stable and constant partner in supporting health structures, particularly in the northern regions (Kidal, Gao and Mopti). and since 2021, the South region (Kita).

More specifically in 2023, MDM-BE continues to implement the ECHO, BHA and FM projects in the Ménaka and Gao regions, and the DGD project in the Kita region focused on the integrated management of GBV cases.

Mali is a Sahelian country which is experiencing a complex crisis and suffers from numerous fragilities which threaten its lasting stabilization, especially in the north of the country. This is a structural and cyclical crisis. In these difficult times, MDM continues to evolve in its projects to be an activist for health care and universal access for the most vulnerable populations by supporting local actors to lastingly change the situation. Our intervention themes focus on One Health, sexual and reproductive rights, primary and nutritional health care, and the fight against gender-based violence.
