ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Project Manager. The Education Manager is directly responsible for the implementation of RET ‘s educational activities in the Mberra camp and in the host community. He/she will be responsible for all tasks related to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities in the camp and host community. He/she will supervise the community relays in close collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and the Project Manager.

MISSIONS OF THE EDUCATION MANAGER

  • The Education Manager will carry out the following tasks in close collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Participate under the supervision of the Project Manager in the recruitment and ongoing training of teachers and community relays.
  • Prepare in a qualitative way, the execution of activities in the intervention zone.
  • Implement project activities according to the agreed upon weekly and monthly work plan.
  • Coordinate, support and ensure the proper organization of all activities in the coverage area (refugee camp and host community).
  • Participate in the initial diagnosis of the selected schools and support in the development of the schools’ action plans.
  • Organize workshops for the implementation of performance contracts in schools.
  • Organize workshops in schools for the development of the school charter.
  • Follow up on planned educational activities; in particular, monitor students and the progress of courses through the collection of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Prepare and deliver training courses for new teachers.
  • Build the capacity of teachers in the schools of Mbera camp through a teacher training program developed and delivered by the Education Manager.
  • Regularly remind community relays of their roles and engage them in the management of educational activities (mobilization, monitoring absences, providing practical advice, etc.).
  • Transmit to the M&E officer every Friday of the week, all the information collected at the camp and host community level and at the literacy centers through a report template developed by the M&E officer.
  • Independently apply all the monitoring and evaluation tools that have been set up and suggest regular updates.
  • Collect all data, including data/indicators for M&E.
  • Liaise between beneficiaries, local partners and RET Germany e.V.
  • Provide regular activity reports to the M&E officer.
  • Achieve the expected results according to the project proposal.
  • Promote the values of RET Germany e.V.
  • Work in general to achieve the overall goal of RET Germany e.V.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisors.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion (with at least a bachelor’s degree) of studies at an accredited academic institution, preferably in education, social sciences, humanities, development studies or other related studies.
  • Additional certified knowledge in planning, monitoring and evaluation, project management, statistics, sociology is an advantage.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in managing education projects in a humanitarian context.
  • Honesty and integrity.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, including ability to work with diverse group of people.
  • Strong (self -) organizational skills and flexibility particularly in working hours.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

Languages :

  • Fluency in French and English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic language an advantage.
