Review of Female Health Worker Supervisors Training Module At Population Services International

Scope of Work and Responsibilities:

The “Consultant” shall be assigned with the following key responsibilities, among others.**

Working closely with the Core Task team (consisting of PSI, FGS, and World Bank) and the General Task Force (consisting of UN agencies, mainly UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, as well as NGOs working in the Somalia Health sector) and to review and improve the existing content by drafting new content for the Supervisors training module to meet current best practices and align with the context of Somalia.

Responsibilities

Work with the Core and General Task force to:

  • Review existing content and develop new material that meets the current best practices on supervision for community health while making reference to the proposed section areas as identified.
  • Review existing literature/resources/or experiences of similar community health programs globally and in East and Horn of Africa region, synthesize the information and incorporate as necessary to the drafting of the training module.
  • Ensure Adult learning principles are reflected and included throughout the learning modules.
  • Draft facilitation steps, trainers note, and estimate duration for each session.
  • Source and include relevant videos /infographics that can enhance learning experience.
  • Draft participants handbook including incorporating appropriate images/infographic or design ideas if appropriate images are not available.
  • Review and incorporate relevant recommendation and improvement to the training modules as recommended by the Core and General task force.
  • Format text, table, and images in the document as necessary

Timeline & Duty Station

This scope of work and its deliverables are expected to be completed by December 15th, 2021. The work will be carried out remotely with an expectation of attendance to all technical meetings which shall be carried out virtually.

Below is a tentative schedule of activities.

· Submit first draft of facilitators and participants manual-14 days

· Incorporate Feedback from Core group- 3 days

· Incorporate Feedback from Task force-3 days

· Incorporate final comments and submit final version-8 days

Total of days: 30 days

Deliverables**

· Final version of The Supervision Module (Facilitators and participants handbook) by December 15th, 2021

Budget

· This work has been budgeted at a maximum 15,000 USD inclusive of any tax charges that will be under the consultant’s responsibility for remittance.

Selection criteria/ qualification required.

Selection shall be based on qualification and experience of the consultant and followed by an interview. The minimum qualification, experience and skills should include:**

A Master’s in Public Health, Health Policy, Community health or Development or another related field,

· 5-10 years of experience in Community Health programs in Africa.

· Experience developing performance management tools for community level health workers.

· Experience on the use of digital tools/technology for performance management of community health workers.

· Demonstrated knowledge in training curriculum development for Community health workers or related health area

· Demonstrated experience in applying adult learning principles in the development of training materials or training.

· Experience as facilitator and or a trainer is preferred. Experience in Somalia and East and Horn of Africa region is preferred.

Excellent command of English and strong writing skills
