Application Deadline: June 7th, 2024
Grassroot Soccer (GRS) is an adolescent health organization that leverages the power of soccer to equip young people with the life-saving information, services, and mentorship they need to live healthier lives. Since 2002, GRS programs have reached 18 million young people in over 60 countries with evidence-based adolescent health programs. GRS is looking to continue scaling its impact via technical assistance and partnerships over the next five years. Recognizing the need to create an ecosystem of support for young people that includes in-person program, print resources, and digital products, GRS is investing in building out its capabilities around digital health. In 2021, GRS launched its first ever Digital SKILLZ game product for adolescents – and is on track to reach over 1 million young people with the game in 2023.
Role Overview
GRS has used Salesforce as a database since its inception in 2002. Various experts have built the data on demand as the programs expanded and needed more data reported. Funders didn’t make it easy either with suggestions of indicators in their RFPs. This on-demand database development has created a system that can only be understood by technical people and is less useful for the generality of the other staff members including those in the M&E department. Three problems are currently prevailing.
- No one can run a correct report without a template developed by the administrator.
- Back-end links are too complex for other experts to build visualization dashboards for further analytics, feedback from
- The complex back end makes it difficult to build on the current system without missing some critical linkages that will be necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Currently, GRS is implementing 10X the 10X strategy meaning less relying on individual data but aggregate data. The system will need to be configured to link historical individuals with the aggregate platform and system going forward. To this end, a consultant will need to study and understand the backend and advise how best GRS can transition to a simpler and easy-to-use database that relies mostly on aggregate data. The key deliverable for the consultant:
- A report explaining how the back end is structured including linkages that exist and gaps
- Proposal of how the gaps can be closed
- Propose on how to streamline data capturing to reduce the number of objects and make it is to generate organisation wide reports
- Propose on how to streamline report generation to ensure consistency
- Proposal of a new simpler database that is well linked and can run basic reports
Duration of the project
This should be a three-month activity that will be followed by another three months trial before this can be launched in the coming year.

- 5+ years of experience as Salesforce administrator
- Salesforce Administrator Certification is a plus
