WHAT DO WE DO …
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 40 years, has provided relief to populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and means of existence. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – 2,000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Solidarités International’s SAME interventions support populations from the shock absorption phase with food assistance and go as far as strengthening the resilience of their livelihoods to cope and adapt to future shocks ( see SI’s 2025 SAME strategy for more information). The overall objective of the SAME teams in the field is to ensure sustainable food and economic security for populations affected by conflicts, economic or health shocks or natural disasters. The SAME sector at Solidarités International will strengthen in 2024 with the arrival of additional resources at headquarters level. In particular, we wish to develop our activities to strengthen the economic security of vulnerable populations by supporting their access to employment or entrepreneurship, particularly in the agricultural and food sectors.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The SAME Regional Expert (Food Security and Livelihoods), attached to the “Orange” Geographic Desk, supports the teams in the following countries: Mozambique, CAR, DRC, Sudan.
He/She contributes to achieving an optimum level of quality for projects through different missions according to the specific needs of these countries:
- Development of the regional SAME strategy in collaboration with headquarters;
- Development of a portfolio of SAME projects and related technical expertise within country teams,
- Deployment and operationalization of technical framework documents;
- Training, capacity building and coaching of teams;
- Representation of IS expertise externally.
In order to carry out its responsibilities, deployment to countries in the region will be planned 50% of the time.
YOUR PROFILE
TRAINING: Agronomist/agriculture engineer, agricultural or veterinary technician, studies in rural development, geography, economics, local development, food security.
EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of experience in a humanitarian mission or at headquarters on Food Security and Livelihoods projects or programs (including at least two years in coordinator or technical referent positions).
Experience in one or more of the following approaches: agroecology, territorial approach, sector/value chain, nutrition, disaster risk reduction, adaptation to climate change.
TECHNICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL SKILLS:
- Skills in design, management and coordination of SAME projects (food assistance, agriculture/livestock/fishing support, support for employability and entrepreneurship, development of agricultural and food markets, management of natural resources)
- Cash transfer skills and a market-based approach
- Knowledge of transversal approaches (mentioned above), particularly approaches allowing longer-term impacts of SAME interventions
- Skills in carrying out SAME diagnostics and technical studies related to the SAME sector (agrarian diagnosis, market analysis, sector study, etc.)
- Skills in designing and implementing SAME tools and methodologies
- Skills in carrying out intermediate or final project evaluations
- Skills in developing training modules and conducting training
- Good mastery of analytical frameworks and key methodologies and indicators of the SAME sector
- Knowledge of analysis tools in sociology and/or anthropology is a plus

IF WILL OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS
- Position based at the headquarters of Solidarités International, in Clichy la Garenne (Metro Mairie de Clichy) with frequent travel to the field
- 6-month fixed-term contract – Framework status. Contract until December 31, 2024
- Gross monthly remuneration of: €3,183 or €3,316 depending on the scale in effect at headquarters
- Possibility of teleworking: 4 or 12 days of teleworking per month or 100% teleworking with 3 days of mandatory face-to-face work per month. In accordance with the Teleworking Charter in force and the manager.
- Leave: 2.0833 CP/month and 1 day of RTT/full month of work
- Mutual insurance (80%), restaurant tickets (60%), Île de France transport tickets (50%) covered by the association
- Recovery days and 100% medical coverage during field trips
