LAW is an independent, non-profit organisation comprised of human rights lawyers and jurists working in fragile and conflict-affected areas in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. LAW’s ground-breaking Rohingya Crisis programme seeks to ensure meaningful Rohingya participation in the ongoing international justice processes seeking accountability for their persecution in Myanmar, including engagement with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (The Gambia v. Myanmar); the ongoing investigation by the Officer of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the work of the Independent Investigative Mechanism on Myanmar (IIMM). Additionally, LAW undertakes innovative strategic litigation on behalf of more than 500 Rohingya clients and ensures Rohingya voices are prioritised throughout its advocacy.
A key aspect of the programme is LAW’s network of over 50 Rohingya Survivor Advocates, who are given ongoing training to provide legal information to the survivors of sexual and gender-based violence about international justice mechanisms related to the Rohingya Crisis and provide them support in accessing services. In addition to empowering Rohingya women and girls, LAW works closely with male and Hijra (third gender, transgender, intersex) survivors of sexual and gender-based violence to ensure their access to justice.
LAW is looking for an experienced and well–networked Security Coordinator to work with the programme team in Bangladesh to ensure that organisational security policies and procedures are responsive to the context and embedded as well as to advise on humanitarian access processes and approaches in close coordination with programme team.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITY
The post holder will perform duties in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below:
Security:
- Drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to risk mitigation and safety for Bangladesh Programme as requested;
- Work closely with the team to embed and ensure that the SOPs are executed;
- Designing /updating security de-brief for staff in Bangladesh and providing security briefing to all guest staff and consultants;
- Delivering briefing on the security situation and movements on a weekly basis, and more regularly as any situation arises;
- Focal point for response in respect of any security incidents, crisis situations;
- Participate and actively contribute to the LAW’s security working group and to work with the Operations Director on global security policies and initiatives;
- To accompany staff on regional missions, facilitating transportation to and from meetings;
- Staying abreast of security and public health-related alerts, and health-related events to LAW operations and engaging with relevant stakeholders as required.
- Working in close collaboration with Bangladesh Programme Manager to reduce risks including public health safety concerns in real time;
- To design areal-timeent risk assessments for security clearance of staff accommodation and office spaces.
- To design, organize and deliver trainings on first-aid, straining fire evacuation; and any other safety and security measures;
- To advise and provide feedback on procurement and logistics by recommending service providers and suppliers, not limited to safety and surveillance equipment;
- Build networks and liaison with all relevant security agencies to ensure situational awareness;
- Liaising with all relevant humanitarian actors, and act as a focal point across coordination groups to advice on impact of LAW’s programming on the remit of any organizations’ operations.
- Monitoring evolving threats and generating and disseminating threat reports effectively.
- Supporting the preparation of appropriate security plans, and risk mitigation plans to measures on a regular basis recommended to counter threats to LAW’s programming in Bangladesh.
- Ensuring that security assessments, policies, procedures and practices are continually reviewed and updated through regular feedback mechanisms and reflecting with staff.
Domestic Affairs:
- Establish and maintain relations with all government officials relevant to LAW’s operations in Bangladesh.
- Coordinate and arrange meetings between relevant government officials and LAW management; represent LAW at meetings.
- Conduct risk assessment and advise on the impact of LAW’s programming, including the research, reports and publications, on relations, and compliance;
- Liaise and coordinate with the humanitarian access focal points in Cox’s Bazar, and with relevant authorities to ensure LAW’s staff, consultants and beneficiaries have continued and uninterrupted access to LAW office;
- Coordinate and share compliance information with relevant authorities as and when required;
- Design and implement trackers for regulatory compliance in consultation with Bangladesh Programme Manager.
- Any other tasks as requested by Bangladesh Programme Manager.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security or another related subject.
- Five years of demonstrated experience working within a humanitarian or development organisations
- 3-4 years of direct or relevant experience in a similar role, working within the Rohingya Response Programme.
- Retired officers from the armed forces will get preference.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Bangla.
- Track record of developing SOP’s and security systems.
- Proficiency in Rohingya or the Chittagonian dialect would be preferred
- Track record of advanced level of analytical skills, negotiation skills and critical thinking.
- Ability to manage teams to achieve goals in a complex working environment
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication and relationship skills with the ability to influence external organizations and individuals
- A high degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to respond to changing needs.
- Competent in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
