Senior Adviser, Learning Development and Outreach at Association for the Prevention of Torture

We are looking for an outstanding candidate who will leverage their relevant professional experience and knowledge to lead and further develop APT’s capacity-building programmes on torture prevention, in particular its digital learning programme (the Torture Prevention Learning Village) and APT tools and resources.

We expect you to be passionate about helping people and teams to learn and grow, putting your human rights expertise at the service of learning development. You will also demonstrate abilities to identify and seize new areas for development to implement APT 2020-2023 Strategic Plan.

Your main responsibilities include:

1. Maintain and further develop APT’s digital learning platform, including developing new and engaging content, managing the community of practitioners, developing the immersive learning environment and coordinating outreach.
2. Coordinate the development and delivery of in-depth online courses for APT’s partners, including developing programmes, liaising with partners and facilitating discussions.
3. Increase the reach of APT’s existing online tools and resources, including through refreshing content and further develop them, and develop new materials for a variety of audience
4. Lead the reflection on and development of APT results oriented capacity building programmes, including monitoring their impacts and support their implementation.
5. Engage with, and mobilise APT’s network of partners (online and off line) on torture prevention issues
6. Contribute to APT external communication, and identify new areas for APT’s contributions to torture prevention.

Requirements:

Education and experience

• A degree in humanities, social justice or human rights.
• A minimum of seven years of relevant work experience is essential, ideally in the human rights field and with non-for profit organisations.
• Experience in the design and delivery of engaging online educational programmes, from content development, design and delivery to monitoring and evaluation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and in at least one additional language (Spanish or French). Other languages such as Arabic or Russian an asset
• Practical experience with learning management system and digital learning.

• Excellent organisational skills and capacity to implement a wide variety of tasks and projects
• Excellent project management skills, from project conceptualisation, implementation, budget management, and monitoring and evaluation
• Demonstrated capability to thrive in a team, as well as show initiative and operate autonomously
• Ability to interact and establish trustful relationships with a wide variety of actors
• Strong commitment to human rights, to preventive approach and to APT’s values
• Curiosity and ability think outside of the box

• Readiness to conduct administrative tasks related to project delivery

Additional requirements (assets)

• Excellent command of Articulate Rise and Storyline
• Experience with working on issues related to deprivation of liberty or detention monitoring
• Prior experience working at the regional or international level
• Experience and interest in fundraising and communication

Salary: 84’000 to 90’000 CHF over a 12 months period, depending on experience, plus working permit and modest relocation package where relevant.
