As Senior Advisor for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, you will provide and support strategic leadership that influences the quality and impact of Child Protection (CP) programming in humanitarian action within Disaster Management (DM) and key technical and ministry areas. This will entail working with key stakeholders (especially Global Centre Child Protection and Participation team advocacy and communications) to ensure and develop key evidence based programmatic guidance for CP in humanitarian contexts for use by the field and support offices, in alignment with global CP sector priorities and approaches.
Requirements include:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the UN humanitarian reform and cluster system, institution of the UN system and policies and guidelines related to child protection in humanitarian action.
- At least 8 years Proven field experience in establishing CPHA programme natural disaster settings including sound knowledge and understanding of how to use and implement the CPMS and other IASC guidelines related to CPHA programme.
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a related field, i.e. Humanitarianism, child protection, social work, child or youth development related discipline, mental health, sociology, anthropology, education, law.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French will be a strong asset.
- The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
