Foundation for Rebuilding Childhood (FRC) is an affiliate entity and India-based knowledge partner of the Global Fund for Children, Inc. (GFC), located in Washington DC.

FRC aims to invest in and support courageous, nascent organizations with bold ideas to meet children’s needs and engage them as leaders of the future.

GFC’s long standing presence in India through its global entity and the FRC affiliate has allowed us to create a unique position to strengthen grantee partner knowledge, networks and programmatic impact as it pertains to children and youth empowerment and wellbeing in India.

Who we need:

The incoming Senior Advisor for the FRC will have the exciting opportunity to build upon the strong foundation that has been laid. With legal groundwork for FRC in place, the incoming Senior Advisor will maintain its legal and financial status, while exploring creative opportunities for funding partnerships and growth over the next two years.

This is a long term consultancy based in Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore, with the opportunity to grow the scope and programming for FRC based on funds raised locally. This role reports to the Senior Director for Development.

What you’ll do:

  • Find opportunities for partnerships in alignment with FRC’s mission in India, including fundraising, peer-to-peer, and grassroots partnerships.
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of the laws and regulations pertaining to civil society in India.
  • Ensure legal compliance to maintain 80G status and build paperwork and programs towards an FCRA license.
  • Identify, engage and support existing and new members of the board that are committed to FRC’s mission and bring skills and expertise to strengthen its work
  • Provide audit support to board finance committee as needed.
  • Track and co-manage FRC’s bank account and financial transactions.
  • In partnership with GFC’s development team and Asia regional team, and funding permitted, identify organizations that align with FRC’s issue areas and priorities and that meet FRC’s funding criteria.

Who we’re looking for:

Candidates should demonstrate the following range of skills, experience, and qualities:

  • Demonstrated professional experience in fundraising, nonprofit leadership and social entrepreneurship in India
  • Experience setting up an India-based nonprofit entity preferred
  • Familiarity with local regulations and experience ensuring legal compliance
  • Experience engaging locally based high net worth individuals, donors and foundations
  • Experience building and strengthening nascent organizational systems
  • Experience managing organizational budgets, including expenses and audits
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial experience
  • High social-emotional intelligence and alignment with FRC knowledge partner GFC’s organizational values
  • Deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for community-based organizations in India that focus on children and youth
  • Comfort working independently and collaborating virtually with colleagues in different time zones
  • Excellent writing, communication, critical-thinking, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Self-motivated team player with balance and humor; ability to work in a dynamic citizen sector environment
  • Ability to travel in India; occasional travel abroad for meetings or conferences
  • Familiarity with national civil society actors and issues in India and their connection to regional and global contexts

Hours and Compensation:

This consultancy requires an average hourly commitment of 160 hours/month. The compensation rate for this consultancy will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and deliverables, and will range between $3500.00 to $4100.00 USD per month.
