SENIOR ADVISOR, IMPACT AT SCALE At CARE USA

CARE is an international NGO with local staff and community partners in more than 90 countries. We create local solutions to poverty and inequality and we seek dignity for everyone every day and during times of crisis. These solutions have a broad range, from clean water to access to education; from microfinance to ensuring that everyone has nutritious food; from agriculture and climate change to disaster response. CARE puts women and girls at the center of everything we do because they have proven to be the best hope for creating lasting change in the world. Our staff live where they work, which makes us effective at understanding the challenges they face. We’ve been doing this for over 70 years, since World War II. It started with the world’s first CARE Package® of food for the post-war hungry in Europe. Our work today is as important as ever, we believe that poverty and inequality are historic injustices that we can end within a generation, for good. If you share our core beliefs: poverty is an injustice; poverty is solvable; and together, we have the power to end it, join us, and fight with CARE.

CARE’s Impact and Innovation Team is addressing the need to advance and modernize humanitarian and development work through our Impact @ Scale six-stage pipeline process. The objective of this pathway to scale is to identify, design and grow solutions that can achieve 10x-100x the impact of typical grant-funded projects. The Impact @ Scale pipeline is relentlessly focused on the most impactful solutions with a validated path to sustainable scale. In fact, 25 to 50% of solutions do not make it through each stage of the pipeline, due to the level of rigor, discipline and data-driven decision making implemented into the process. In such cases, solutions have the opportunity to revert to earlier stages for adaptation and iteration.

The Impact @ Scale Senior Advisor will be the primary technical lead for CARE-wide I@S change management processes, internal communications efforts, and a community of practice on sustainable scaling. They will also work closely with the I@S Director to manage S1-3 processes for solutions currently in the I@S pipeline, and S4-5 coordination and strategy as solutions advance to those stages. The Senior Advisor will report to the Impact @ Scale Director, and work closely with the I@S Coordinator, solution teams and Impact + Innovation department colleagues.
