Senior Agriculture Marketing Specialist, Lesotho
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Senior Agriculture Marketing Specialist for an upcoming Market Driven Irrigation Horticulture (MDIH) Activity in Lesotho funded by Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The program aims to ensure that strong legal and policy frameworks are in place in Lesotho to support the growth of irrigation throughout the country in an equitable and sustainable way. It intends to achieve this goal by improving the capacity of government and other institutions to deliver and sustain the services necessary for inclusive growth in irrigated horticulture.
The Senior Agriculture Marketing Specialist will develop and implement marketing strategies to increase market competitiveness. The program is anticipated to start in 2024 and this position will be based in Lesotho.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a market-led strategy that incentivizes private sector investment in upgrading the agriculture market infrastructure and supporting services
- Identify market and business enabling barriers to agricultural sector competitiveness
- Work with project partners and stakeholders to develop private sector led solutions
- Identify capacity gaps across the broad range of agricultural market system actors and facilitate capacity building plans and access to training services
- Promote a culture of learning across stakeholders that leads to improved and more transparent market access, improved natural resource management, and inclusion of vulnerable groups, women, and youth
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience developing and implementing marketing strategies and systems for commercial horticulture, involving all aspects of the commodity chain (from post-harvest handling through retail).
- Experience working on agriculture marketing in at least one project in sub-Saharan Africa required.
- Fluency in English required (written and spoken).
