Senior Communications Advisor At Amnesty International

The Senior Communications Advisor is an opportunity to oversee the production and delivery of Crisis Response’s communication outputs for Amnesty International.

The role will provide short-term support to craft media strategies, produce media outputs, and pitch story ideas relating to the Crisis Response Programme’s work on armed conflicts and other human rights crises around the world.

The role will ensure the consistently high quality of a large volume of crisis response outputs produced for external print, digital and broadcast media, Amnesty.org and other platforms.

ABOUT YOU

You will be passionate about Human Rights while having proven experience developing communication outputs, particularly regarding human rights crises. You will be confidently able to use your knowledge of broadcasting media to assist the Crisis Response programme with research and advocacy communications.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Substantial, relevant and recent experience in a senior role in journalism or public relations at a global organization, with a proven track record in leading on the development and implementation of innovative communication strategies.
  • Substantial experience of editing others’ work to a high standard and on tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and digital media globally, with established contacts at key media organizations.
  • Detailed knowledge of – and experience of engaging with – current and emerging communications trends and developments, including using social media platforms to disseminate targeted messaging to specific audiences.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of other global languages an advantage.
