Know our team

Nutrition International’s Corporate Service (CS) Unit is a dedicated team of Finance and Administrative experts with extensive global experience. The unit leads on providing global Accounting, Finance, Budget, and Compliance, Contracting and Procurement, Facilities management and Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT). Corporate Services team are found in Nutrition International’s Head Quarters in Ottawa, Canada, as well as within our Regional and Country Offices throughout Africa and Asia. Currently Nutrition International is seeking applications for Finance Officer to be based in Ethiopia.

About this role

In this role you will support the Finance Manager in Country Office’s financial management and compliance, accounting, and audit to ensure efficient utilization of resources and timely reporting. You will work closely with Country Office and Regional Office Corporate Services Team

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash reports and reconciliations.
  • Data entry of weekly transactions in both Great Plains and Peach Tree, preparation of Journal Entries, AP/MP Entries in Great Plains. Quarterly General Ledger reconciliations in GP and Peach Tree.
  • Ensure the accuracy of Ethiopia projects and contracts information entered in the Contracts Database and that all related milestones are kept up to date at all time by Program Officers.
  • Support Finance Manager in preparation of Pure Program, Operational and Indirect budgets and monthly budget management.
  • Support the finance Manager in preparation for annual statutory and internal audits, including preparation of draft financial statements, audit schedules and audit support documentation as required by the auditors.
  • Assist program staff in developing budgets for grant proposal and for Project Concepts Notes.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in preparation of annual allocated and indirect budgets, Pure Program Annual Spending Plans, and PWB package
  • Monitoring the cashflow and preparation of quarterly cash forecast.
  • In liaison with local service provider, prepare monthly payrolls, and ensure effective management of staff salaries, including calculations and timely payment, in line with national labour law, tax and social payments.

About You

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • At least 7 years accounting experience and a minimum of 3 years in a senior financial position.
  • You have Experience working with foreign currencies and foreign accounting practices.
  • Solid knowledge of generally acceptable accounting practices, financial systems, budget and cash flow monitoring and accounting controls, in an international context.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting software, GP and PeachTree an asset
