Senior Finance Officer At Save the Children

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Senior Finance Officer is accountable in ensuring quality spending of funds earmarked for program implementation in the Sponsorship Impact Areas. S/he and takes charge of consolidation of all financial reports of Save the Children Philippines (SCP) for submission to the member, donor, and other key stakeholders. The post holder supports the budget holders in monitoring the Detailed Implementation and Financial Plan (DIFP) ensuring Sponsorship program maintains set standard Key Performance Indicator in Budget versus Actual (BvA). S/he is expected to regularly meet with the budget holders for the financial review, Budget versus Actuals (BvA) monitoring sessions to proactively flag any discrepancy between the phased budget and program targets versus actual (TvA) expenses.

The post holder is expected to conduct regular and random audit of financial transactions related to Sponsorship program. S/he is also expected to ensure timely facilitation of financial transactions by coordinating with the supply chain and program teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have completed a degree in accounting
• Must have at least 3 years of work experience in finance department in a civil society organization or private sector
• Understanding of grants management and financial systems and procedures
• Demonstrated analytical skills on finance
• Experience in a computerized environment and knowledge in the use of accounting packages (knowledge of AGRESSO is highly preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and ability to work within tight deadlines
• Ability to work in a multicultural/cross cultural environment. Adaptable, flexible with a high level of work ethics
• Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives; willing to adopt Save the Children methodology and framework in program implementation; abide by and implement Save the Children’s policies including Safeguarding
• Willing to travel to Mindanao and other parts of the country
