1.Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Development and Partnerships Manager, the role of the Senior Fundraising Officer is to support the Fundraising Department in the implementation of GFP’s fundraising strategy, with an emphasis on identifying donors and funding opportunities, supporting in the preparation of grant proposals and reports, and maintaining fundraising knowledge management systems. The Senior Fundraising Officer will be highly detail-oriented, organized and apply best practices and the highest standards of accuracy, and support in securing new and increased funding for Generations For Peace programmes, research and capacity development.
2.Responsibilities:
Proposal Development Support (40%)
- Preparing and submitting strategically tailored solicited and unsolicited proposals for donors, applying best practice and the highest standards of accuracy, taking personal responsibility for the quality of GFP proposals and reports to donors and partners.
- Developing proposal plans, timelines, and templates in compliance with specific donor requirements
- Researching background materials (including country context analyses, country strategies, previous proposals, donor strategies, reports, and research studies), and gathering input of Programmes Department and GFP Delegates and Pioneers to support production of relevant, informed, and locally responsive proposals and reports
- Supporting in the preparation of strategically tailored proposals for donors and partners, including preparing supporting documents, applying best practice and the highest standards of accuracy, taking personal responsibility for the quality of all GFP proposals to donors and partners
- Ensuring effective handover of successful proposals for implementation by the Programmes team and supporting them in the grant kick-off process
Donor and Partner Relationship Development and Management (30%)
- Researching prospective donors and partners and identifying new prospects and funding opportunities, including by monitoring grant opportunities, forecasts, calls for proposals, and peer NGOs, and advising the Fundraising Department and Senior Management Team on opportunities relevant to Generations For Peace through grant opportunity summaries
- Scheduling and participating in donor and partner meetings and obtaining feedback from donors and partners to allow Generations For Peace to respond to their needs
Fundraising Knowledge Management (30%)
- Updating and maintaining GFP’s fundraising databases, including donor databases and tracking processes and grant opportunity monitoring and proposal databases, through data gathering, entry and cleaning
- Developing, updating and maintaining prospective and confirmed donor and partner files and documents on the server, including all documents related to fundraising and proposals.
- Supporting the maintenance of GFP’s online fundraising platforms and tools, including updates to fundraising pages on the GFP website, crowdfunding sites, payment processors, online subscriptions, donor mailing lists, etc., in close collaboration with the Grant Proposal Officer
- Providing administrative and logistical support to Fundraising Department colleagues, including but not limited to scheduling meetings with donors and partners, preparing and submitting procurement and financial documents, updating and submitting registration documents, and other duties as assigned
- Participating in intra- and inter-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and coordination between and among the Fundraising Department and other colleagues; including but not limited to weekly meetings with GPO, bi-weekly Fundraising meetings, coordination calls with other departments, Facetime with Programmes, all-staff meetings and presentations, etc.

5. Education, Qualifications, Competences, Skills Required:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree minimum, in a relevant discipline
- At least three years’ professional experience in proposal writing, non-profit fundraising and donor engagement
- Specific experience and track record in securing governmental donor funds: grant proposal writing and reporting, including for USAID, US Department of State, EU, FCDO, GAC, etc.
- Comfortable working independently, remotely and in a team environment
- Excellent spoken and written English, and in particular top quality written English communications
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent computer skills (documents/spreadsheets/databases/presentations/multi-media/calendars/email)
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of different interpretations of communications approaches in different global, regional, and local contexts
Preferred:
- Experience working in the development sector
- Experience in an international peacebuilding organization
- Proficiency in Arabic is useful but not required
