Context:

Under the general guidance of IOM Qatar in CAS (Camp Al Saiyliah) Senior Protection Coordinator and direct supervision of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Programme Manager and the close coordination with the MHPSS Family and Community Support Coordinator and Technical Supervisor, the successful candidate will be performing the following functions and responsibilities:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support the MHPSS Technical Supervisor in the coordination of counselling sessions for medium to high-risk cases.
  • Serve as focal point for all Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) and Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) activities and liaise with relevant units (Protection and Education) and MHPSS staff on logistical, administrative, and financial matters in support of CFS MHPSS activities and ensure that all procedures are coordinated within Procurement and Logistical Unit PLU.
  • Supervise the MHPSS Education specialist’s day-to-day activities and ensure they align with the MHPSS workflow and objectives, with constant coordination between the MHPSS and Education Programme Managers.
  • Assist the MHPSS Family and Community Support Coordinator and Technical Supervisor in compiling and filing project documentation, including internal Assistance Programme (AP) reports, donor reports, etc.
  • Assist in implementation of project/programme activities, including organizing meetings, workshops, training, conference, etc.
  • Assist the reporting focal person in the creation, tracking psychosocial support (PSS) activities, compiling event reports and maintenance of all project documents.
  • Assist to maintain records and tracking of project staff leave plan and roster schedule, including, recording the overtime documents.
  • Assist the Technical Supervisor and Family and Community Support Coordinator in the coordination of technical trainings and guidance to clinical psychologists and counsellors and community mobilisers to ensure IOM MHPSS guidelines are implemented effectively.
  • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation and reporting of all MHPSS services in the form of satisfaction surveys, pre and post assessments of MHPSS services, as well as assisting in MHPSS needs assessments.
  • Oversee and monitor the procurements process of all items needed for the CFS and WGSS and other related activities.
  • Coordinate procurement and logistical arrangements of equipment/supplies/services for the program activities in coordination with relevant units and in compliance with IOM procedures.
  • Undertake any other duty as may be assigned by the MHPSS Programme Manager and the Technical Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of five years of work experience including at least 2 years field experience MHPSS programming, or
  • High School diploma with at least seven years of relevant professional experience, including at least 2 years field experience MHPSS programming.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Proven work experience as an instructor required
  • Must be approachable and empathic so children will be comfortable working with you
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming resilience, community-based activities, development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.
  • Experience working with at-risk community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.

Skills

  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Can locate and apply key Inter-Agency Protection Resources.

Languages

  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Basic Knowledge of Dari, Pashto, or Arabic (oral and written) is a distinct advantage.
