Senior Officer – MGBViE At International Medical Corps

The purpose of this role is to support implementation of the Managing Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (MGBViE) learning programme, including the organization of training workshops, regular communication with partners and participants, and management of large volumes of communication and information. This will be a 12 months contract with potential extension.

  • With support from the United States Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), International Medical Corps leads a multi-phased learning program on behalf of the Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR). Managing Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (MGBViE) is dedicated to building capacity and community of gender-based violence (GBV) specialists who lead programmes in humanitarian settings. The learning programme includes three phases: Phase I e-learning, Phase II in-person training workshops, and Phase III continued learning and support. The GBV Programme Officer will devote 100% effort to the BHA-funded project: Reinforcement of key GBViE programming initiatives through support to the GBV AoR and the GBVIMS Steering Committee. This project is dedicated to continued support of the MGBViE initiative, first conceived in 2008 and implemented in different stages since 2010. In 2024/2025, MGBViE priorities will include:
  • Continued support for a growing GBV AoR Community of Practice (CoP) (Phase III)
  • Continued support for the MGBViE mentorship initiative (Phase III)
  • Delivery of two global training workshops (Phase II)
  • Knowledge management (Phase II)

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination with project focal points and partners

  • Work closely with project team and lead weekly planning meetings
  • Facilitate and document regular meetings with GBV AoR CoP moderators and GBV AoR CoP Advisory Committee
  • Monitor project work-plans and follow up with project team and partners to ensure timely implementation of project activities

Mentorship initiative

  • Manage mentorship databases
  • Invite new mentors and mentees to participate in mentorship initiative
  • Match and orient mentors and mentees
  • Follow up with participants and manage challenges

Maintain and update Phase II training curriculum

  • Conduct periodic reviews of online curriculum
  • Coordinate with project team and Communications department to maintain online curriculum

Identification of training participants

  • Circulate Phase II training announcements and manage responses
  • Review applications and shortlist applicants for consideration
  • Manage communication with applicants

Administrative support to global trainings

  • Coordinate with relevant departments such Security, Finance, Logistics, and Travel to organize global training workshops
  • Track and update participant information
  • Maintain communication with training participants before and after workshops
  • Plan and order materials for workshops
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure efficient implementation

Participation in global trainings

  • Act as focal point for training participants
  • Organize workshop materials
  • Document training content and lessons learned
  • Contribute to workshop M&E
  • Produce workshop reports

Reporting and M&E

  • Administer post-training surveys, analyze data, and produce survey reports
  • Collect and analyze feedback from mentorship initiative and CoP
  • Coordinate with IMC GBV Advisors and Finance to produce regular project reports
  • Prepare project briefs for external audiences

Financial Management

  • Monitor financial pipelines as directed
  • Work closely with relevant departments to plan and procure supplies required for program activities, in line with budget and project timelines
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations

Principled Conduct

  • Foster a safe and supportive working environment for team and project participants
  • Exemplify core principles of GBV programming, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, nonviolence, and promotion of gender equality

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Typically, bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, international development
  • Advanced degree in social work, public health, international development, or related field is preferred
  • Relevant work experience is essential. International work experience is an added advantage
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Detail oriented, with proven experience maintaining large volumes of communication and information
  • Commitment to GBV prevention and response work, demonstrated through professional experience, volunteer work or course study
  • Familiarity with project management and systems for M&E
  • Experience organizing international travel, trainings or multi-day workshops, or similar experience
  • Demonstrated flexibility and openness in responding to evolving priorities and environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally Familiarity with humanitarian architecture an advantage
  • Prior work experience with International Medical Corps in a capacity involving familiarity with internal online systems and coordination with Finance and Logistics departments an advantage
  • Prior experience managing BHA grants, including use of AAMP system, an advantage
  • French or Arabic language skills not required but an advantage
