Senior Partnerships Officer At UNOPS

The main purpose of the Senior Partnerships Officer is to provide professional support to the Director of the Multi-Country Office in the development of the portfolio in Honduras and El Salvador, through the generation of strategies and identification of opportunities for collaboration and strengthening of alliances. to enhance our UNOPS impact on projects.

Functional responsibilities

The Senior Partnerships Officer will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Support the Office Director in identifying funding opportunities related to governments, international/national agencies, multilateral institutions, non-governmental organizations, foundations and the private sector.
  • Together with project managers, develop expressions of interest, concept notes and proposals for potential new projects and prepare budgets and costs for all new project proposals.
  • Ensure a comprehensive view of the alliances and communications strategy in developing communications materials, including fact sheets, presentations, capability statements, FAQs and driving advocacy, visibility and outreach initiatives with potential partners.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings with donors and partners and produce high-quality meeting minutes and action-oriented summaries.
  • Conduct national-level research and analysis on focus areas, funding cycles, and donor and partner processes and identify opportunities for project development in Honduras and El Salvador
  • Support project managers by reviewing and other external communications when necessary.

Qualifications and experience

  1. Education

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in business administration, communication, finance, economics, engineering, law, international development or related fields is required.
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) with an additional two (2) years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree in the relevant field.
  1. Work experience

A minimum of 2 years (4 years for a bachelor’s degree) in the international development sector including experience in one or more of the following:

  • Alliance development and execution
  • Development and writing of project proposals
  • Market analysis and portfolio development

The following experience criteria are desirable:

  • Experience in developing alliances with public sector entities (government) with a focus on development projects.
  • Experience in establishing partnerships with UN agencies, international development organizations, foundations, international NGOs or private sector organizations.
  • Previous experience working in international organizations, international development, post-disaster and/or emergency contexts.
  • Experience in alliance management in institutional crisis environments.
  1. Language requirements:

  • Fluency in the Spanish language is required
  • An intermediate level of English is required
