Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office and the Assistance Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator (NFIs and Distribution), working closely with the Assistance Programme Units (Protection, M&E, MHD, MHPSS, CE, Education, SMS) and Procurement and Logistics Unit, and all IOM thematic units, the incumbent will be responsible for performing the following tasks:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, assist in planning and facilitating day-to-day IOM Hygiene Promotion and community participation at the CAS transit site, including the roll-out of WASH needs assessment, distribution, and follow-up with partners and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the direct implementation of hygiene promotion and community participation activities in the CAS transit camp. This includes:
1. Facilitating hygiene awareness sessions.
2. Drafting and design of hygiene promotion IEC materials.
3. Plan Menstrual Hygiene Sessions for women and girls.
4. Lead Environmental cleanliness campaigns.
5. Conducting household visits.
- Support the design and adaption of Hygiene promotion tools and IEC materials to facilitate the dissemination of appropriate WASH messages.
- Support the Project Officer in designing and maintaining the IOM Hygiene activities workflow, standard operation procedures, project-level resource management tools, and other tracking tools involved in managing the team.
- Participate in community mobilization to participate in Health and Hygiene promotion activities, such as clean-up campaigns, sensations, and dissemination of IEC materials.
- Take the lead in recruiting and training hygiene promotion facilitators from the community.
- Identify operational and programmatic gaps related to Hygiene promotion within the team and CAS for management’s attention; contribute to the Unit’s strategic vision and planning.
- Support in managing day-to-day related Hygiene promotion and personnel activities (including casual staff/daily workers and volunteers) in accordance with IOM guidelines.
- Supervise assigned Hygiene promotion assistants during the day-to-day operation of the Hygiene promotion and NFI project activities.
- Support elaborating on hygiene promotion in daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings.
- Support the redaction of hygiene promotion activity reports and weekly, monthly, and quarterly project progress reports under the guidance of the Project O0fficer.
- Support sensitization and awareness on the correct use of NFIs, supplementary feeding items, and good hygiene practices for the guests and plan appropriate community participation in project activities.
- Participate in coordination meetings with partners and guests at the CAS on WASH-related activities.
- Assist to promote and facilitate inclusion of Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), gender, protection, environmental risk, and safety mainstreaming into Hygiene promotion and reporting.
- Effectively work together with other IOM units in executing emergency response activities and building the capacity of local staff and volunteers.
- Promote a respectful working environment free of harassment, retaliation, and prevent sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH); this includes identifying PSEAH risks in NFIs operations and implementing the PSEAH risk mitigation plan in the area of responsibility.
- Perform other duties as required within the competencies and responsibilities of the position.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Public Health, Community and Environmental Health, sociology, humanitarian studies, or a related field, from an accredited academic institution with four years of experience in WASH programming, NFI, and Coordination, or
- Completed high school degree with at least six years of relevant experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in humanitarian WASH, Public health promotion, NFI, Community participation, and management of teams.
- Prior relevant professional experience in Hygiene Promotion and facilitating training.
- Prior experience working in camp settings.
- Preferable prior experience working with a United Nations agency in an emergency context.
- Knowledge of working with migrants and refugees.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and familiarity with Publisher) and Office 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams).
- Excellent operational, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with other colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven experience in drafting reports, and other information products.
- Experience in project management, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting will be an advantage.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Basic Knowledge of Dari, Pashto, or Arabic (oral and written) is a distinct advantage.
