Senior Public Health Officer At Connecting Research to Development

The senior public health officer is expected to provide technical support to all new and existing projects from writing proposals to implementation and closure of projects. Has ability to maintain relationships with a diverse workforce (staff, external partners, and stakeholders), anticipate opportunities and challenges, and approach solutions strategically and diplomatically.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Support

  • Contribute to the growth of a diverse portfolio of contracts and grants.
  • Contribute to various program activities with focus on development of proposals, implementation, monitoring, and report writing.
  • Identify, research, and summarize pertinent literature related to various projects.
  • Work with various team members to create, review, and evaluate project plans and objectives, track and report progress relative to timelines and deliverables.
  • Apply and further develop analytic, organizational, relational and/or other skills needed to advance use of evidence generated by CRD in development of recommendations that will support development of relevant policies by various partners.

Partnership Development

  • Maintain relationships with various external stakeholders and partners, current and potential funders, individual members, and organizational affiliates, including identifying and securing strategic opportunities for collaboration with the public and private sectors to advance CRD portfolio.
  • Represent CRD in meetings, speaking engagements, discussions, trainings, and workshops on topics relevant to CRD scope of work. This include taking minutes of meeting and updating CRD leadership about outcomes of meetings attended.
  • Actively track relevant updates and news of various stakeholders and partners regarding relevant activities and partnership opportunities.
  • Participate in external events as appropriate to promote CRD scope of work.
  • Respond to requests for assistance and information from various stakeholders and partners.

Organization Strategy

  • Collaborate with other senior staff to contribute to CRD business development strategy, including assessing current plans / processes and identifying potential opportunities and partnerships with new and/or existing funders/partners.
  • Collaborate with other senior staff to develop and implement initiatives to support the creation of performance metrics and targets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Master’s degree or higher in public health preferably in health policy, or related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant professional experience in the private or public sectors, UN agencies or academic institutions.
  • Thorough understanding of the public health and healthcare sectors in Lebanon and relevant key stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate a diverse professional network including senior decision-makers and leaders in fields relevant to the role.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial spirit and track record of contributing to drafting successful grants and contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications (writing and speaking) skills.
  • Active listening skills and proactive communicator.
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with individuals and partners.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • A team-oriented attitude, strong cross-functional collaboration skills and proven ability to work collaboratively and establish positive working relationships with other team members and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; detail oriented. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously with limited direct supervision.
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity, and integrity.
