Internal and external applications are welcome. Responsibilities
1. Support the LMD RTS in carrying out capacity building, training, monitoring and evaluation and technical support to the COs in the Region on thematic areas relevant to the LMD.
2. Support the LMD RTS in reviewing, approving and monitoring project proposals developed by the CAs in the Region.
3. Support the LMD SDR in reviewing, approving and monitoring project reports developed by the CAs in the Region.
4. Identify emerging issues relevant to the thematic area, monitor thematic developments at the regional and CO levels and contribute to the development of thematic policies and reports in collaboration with the LMD RTS.
5. In collaboration with the LMD RTS, serve as a resource person for the COs in the Region by providing information on the latest policy and research developments at the global, regional and country levels, as well as best practices in project implementation.
6. In coordination with the Regional Project Development Officer (RPDO) and LMD RTS, support the development of regional/multi-country projects, for small COs and for countries without an IOM presence.
7. Under the guidance of the LMD RTS, support the drafting and development of regional thematic policy briefs, fact sheets and tools in collaboration with other RO RTUs
. 8. Prepare internal reports, presentations, talking points, speeches, statements and briefings relevant to LMD as needed.
9. In coordination with the RPDO and LMD RTS, contribute to ongoing knowledge management processes within the ORS and COs in the Region, including the sharing of thematic information between COs and the RO
. 10. In the absence of the LMD RTS, ensure the continued functioning of the LMD RTU by coordinating incoming requests from internal or external partners.
11. Participate in conferences, workshops and meetings related to the thematic area of expertise, at the request of the LMD RTS and/or the Deputy Regional Director (DRD) of Operations.
12. Carry out any other tasks that may be assigned to him/her.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in political or social science, business administration, migration studies, international relations, law or a related field with four years of relevant professional experience; or,
• High school diploma with six years of relevant experience.
Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database .
Experience
• Experience in the field of migration issues, including operational and field experience, with project management and technical experience;
• Demonstrated expertise in labour mobility;
• Experience in liaising with government authorities, other national/international institutions, the private sector and NGOs; and,
• Professional experience in the thematic area of the region is an asset.

Languages
• For this position, fluency in French and English is required (oral and written).
• Working knowledge of Portuguese, or any other language of the region is an advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
