Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of the post is to provide Web Hosting expert support within the Cloud Administration and Platform Support Unit. The domain of the incumbent monitor and act on the implementation and ongoing support of Web Hosting services, on-premises, and in the cloud for UNICC and its clients.
Objectives of the Programme:
The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head of the Cloud and Platform Service Unit (OPDA) within the Operations Division (OP). The incumbent could be requested to do any other tasks of similar level in related fields. Under guidance and in close collaboration with the OPDA Web Hosting & Platform Support Lead, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Review and diagnose customer issues and propose the appropriate resolution to meet customer needs
- Under guidance, liaise with users/customers, maintaining the principle of customer service excellence
- Install, configure, maintain (environment refreshes, application of patches, etc.) and support Web Based applications in Linux systems, RDBMS, Open Source web servers, etc.
- Monitor Linux systems performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing server performance to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime
- Create and maintain technical documentation and document changes, requests and incidents as required
- Support end-to-end deployment, maintenance, and optimization of web applications in cloud environments through CI/CD pipeline orchestration
- Other: Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full-time basis upon request from the senior management
Recruitment Profile
Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
- Minimum eight (8) years of IT experience, with a focus on Web Applications hosting. A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted towards minimum work experience requirements
- Proven experience in Linux environments, installing applications, updates, doing basic troubleshooting, etc.
- Proven experience in supporting the architecture and deployment of highly complex Web applications
- Hands-on knowledge of Public Cloud IaaS & PaaS services
- Excellent knowledge of scripting languages like PHP, Python and/or Bash.
- Good knowledge of container technologies including Orchestration tools like Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience on continuous integration and continuous delivery /continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Hands-on experience on managing MySQL/MariaDB RDBMS: users and permissions management, backups, replication topologies
Desirable:
- Understanding of UNICC products and services
- Hands-on knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools (Elastic)
Education:
Essential:
- Secondary school diploma complemented by training in IT
Desirable:
- Certification in Azure or AWS Cloud Services
- Service Management qualification
Languages:
- English: Expert knowledge is required
- Spanish: Beginner knowledge is desirable

Eligibility:
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. Compensation:
Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):
- Valencia: EUR 44,839
