General Description of the Programme:
GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in Idleb Governate, both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.

Job purpose:
Under supervision of Senior Shelter Engineer, Shelter Community Mobilization assistant will be responsible for engaging with communities and local authorities to inform them of the intervention plans, get their feedback. Work with the Senior Shelter Engineer to incorporate the community suggestions in the intervention. lead on arranging the meetings that are required to launch the emergency referral pathway in coordination with local communities and humanitarian actors operating in the emergency response area. work with GOAL access team to get all required approvals prior to the intervention start from local authorities and landlords. He/she will also be responsible of providing accurate documentation support regarding Complaints Responding Mechanism.
Duties, objectives and competencies
- Assist Senior Shelter Engineer in Liaising with communities and their representatives on implementing effective Complaints Responding Mechanism.
- Assist in developing suitable assessments to collect information from communities as required.
- Conduct community meetings and ensure appropriate feedback mechanisms for households covered with the shelter program services.
- Maintain documents of shelter rehabilitation projects.
- As required meet with communities during assessments of Shelter projects.
- Assist in preparing letters and announcements copies to the local councils;
- Other tasks as required relating to community relations as determined by the Shelter Program Manager/ Senior Shelter Engineer.
Requirements (essential)
- Bachelor’s degree in any specialty.
- At least 1 year NGO experience including dealing with local authorities and communities.
Requirements (desired)
- Degree in relevant field (Social sciences or law Institution degree).
- Good English oral and written skills.
