Small Grants Manager At Save the Children

Summary

Save the Children is currently accepting applications for a Small Grants Manager for a Department of Labor-funded project with the objective of increasing collective action in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to address child labor, forced labor, and other unacceptable conditions of work. The project will focus on people of African descent, Garifuna, and indigenous communities, and will work with CSOs to address labor exploitation, including issues of gender and racial discrimination, and workers’ organizations that represent the collective interests of formal and/or informal workers, including these target populations. The project will work directly with national and local authorities, the private sector, people of African descent, Garifuna, and indigenous communities, and other critical stakeholders. The project will also help workers’ organizations and CSOs to address child labor and other violations of acceptable conditions of work by strengthening their capacities to advance gender and racial equity.

The Small Grants Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management and other operational duties for this grant funded by USDOL. The Manager will manage the implementation of financial systems, budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting and accounting for both the prime recipient and any sub-awards. This individual will also handle all grant management and reporting on program performance as well as provide financial and technical management to ensure the best use of resources by preparing sound budgets, monitoring project expenses, and ensuring timely preparation of donor financial reports. The Manager will ensure that an appropriate structure exists to ensure effective support of field operations and to protect the integrity of the country financial and administrative operations. This position is a key position on this program team and will report directly to the Project Director.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Ensure that all reporting and financial budgets required by DOL/ILAB, SCUS, and other stakeholders are produced and delivered on time and are of a consistently high quality;
Monitor budgets to ensure that spending occurs as planned and that variances are anticipated, noted, and corrected; ensure that key program personnel are aware of budgetary resources and are able to monitor their budgets respectively;
Ensure all financial plans, invoices, reports, and other documents are accurate, timely, and consistent with agency and USDOL guidelines and regulations;
Maintain and update all the financial documents (reports, plans) and ensure confidentiality of project financial information;
Review and consolidation of monthly financial reports for distribution to senior management;
Review and consolidation of monthly sub-office accounts and reports to ensure accuracy and to provide regular feedback to the senior leadership team;
Work with Country Coordinators to ensure the project is implemented as planned and with sound program quality;
Prepare any budget revisions and projections and respond to any questions;
Confirm availability of funds for all requests for payment or charges to grants; and
Incorporate SC’s vision and values and full adherence to Code of Conduct principles.

Required Qualifications

Degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of five years of professional experience in grants management related to international development;
Proven experience managing and overseeing small grants according to U.S. federal regulations, work experience with USDOL funding is ideal;
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing procedures and compliance measures for grants;
Experience using management tools and software;
Experience developing and delivering training on grants management;
Ability to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and provide all required inputs to deliverables;
Ability to work with external auditors or evaluators;
Knowledge of federal grants regulations and grants-related regulations in target countries; and
Fluency in Spanish is required and proficiency in English is preferred.
