Purpose

Habitat for Humanity Jordan (HFHJ) is committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations by providing shelter solutions, community support, and empowering programs that promote self-reliance and resilience. The Social Worker – Intern will play a critical role in HFHJ’s mission to assist vulnerable families through caring, community-based support. Based in Amman, the Social Worker – Intern will work closely with the direct Program Manager to identify, assess, and support beneficiaries of HFHJ’s shelter and community programs. The Social Worker – Intern will also uphold HFHJ’s safeguarding and protection standards, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all beneficiaries.This position requires a dedicated and empathetic professional who is skilled in social work, community mobilization, and beneficiary support, with a commitment to HFHJ’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Key Perfoamance Areas:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential beneficiaries’ needs and eligibility for support services, including in-person and virtual visits.
  • Outreach activities in collaboration with other staff members in order to identify beneficiaries and to provide information on services available; participate in the general assessment for the shelter rehabilitation work.
  • Explain to the beneficiaries the project implementation methodology, scope of work, selection criteria and any other related beneficiary project information.
  • Coordinate door to door and virtual visits to potential beneficiary households and participate in the selection of the beneficiary based on HFH criteria and assessment tools. Where applicable, recommend cases for assessment.
  • Coordinate regular follow-up visits with selected project beneficiaries during and post-project implementation.
  • Leads the protection component in the HFH Jordan, as well as supervising shelter interventions within scope of protection.
  • Lead field level coordination with community stakeholders in areas of project implementation as directed by Project Manager.
  • Assist the Project Engineer and Manager during the self-help procedures to keep the beneficiaries motivated and engaged. Report any problems or obstacles that the beneficiary faces.
  • Respond to any project beneficiary information requests and complaints as directed by Project Manager.
  • Follow up with the beneficiaries’ accommodation status during shelter rehabilitation.
  • Assist in surveying any skills potential amongst the community and beneficiaries.

Documentation:

  • Collect and manage project documentation including beneficiary registration IDs and shelter ownership documents.
  • Collect information as directed by the Project Manager for project monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Prepare and submit activity plans and reports to the Project Manager on agreed schedules and provide verbal and written feedback on progress, lessons learned, achievements and gaps, issues, and problems.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports by providing accurate, up-to-date data on project indicators and activities. Track and document performance metrics in line with HFHJ’s reporting framework to ensure all relevant project milestones are met.
  • Collaborate in data analysis for reports to highlight project impacts and any necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain the records of beneficiaries and document beneficiaries related information that includes Update beneficiaries’ information regularly, keep records in both electronically (soft copy) and physically (hard copy), Ensure all documents submitted by applicants are valid.
  • Ensure compliance with HFHJ’s data security protocols and beneficiary data protection policies. Maintain strict confidentiality and proper storage of sensitive information following HFHJ’s data management standards.
  • Ensure – through clear weekly and monthly work plans/reports and field assessments, are carried out in a timely, effective, and technically sound manner.
  • Regularly update the program team on beneficiary progress, challenges, and recommendations for further support.
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings and maintain and promote a positive image of HFH and its activities by explaining what HFH is doing and why HFH operates in that way.
  • Ensure quality intake of referrals from other/to agencies, local CBO’s and International NGO’s and advise beneficiaries of help and services available to them.
  • Conduct peer-led focus groups discussions, informal skill training and awareness sessions with children, youth, men and women.

Referral Mechanism:

  • Actively participate in coordination meetings and maintain and promote a positive image of HFH and its activities by explaining what HFH is doing and why HFH operates in that way.
  • Ensure quality intake of referrals from other/to agencies, local CBO’s and International NGO’s and advise beneficiaries of help and services available to them.
  • Conduct peer-led focus groups discussions, informal skill training and awareness sessions with children, youth, men and women.

Other tasks:

  • Assist in any additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager and/or the Project Manager in line with the job profile.
  • Assist in handing over completed rehabilitated shelters to beneficiaries.
  • Assist the Project Manager in procurement and logistics and all data gathering requirement.
  • Be in charge of organizing the community meetings (planning, focus groups…), and mobilizing the community regarding our services, community projects, and skills development.
  • Ensure adherence to HFHJ Safeguarding policies when interacting with beneficiaries, especially vulnerable groups, to maintain a safe environment in all project activities.
  • Promote Gender-sensitive approaches in all interactions with beneficiaries and ensure inclusivity in project planning and execution, with special consideration for women, elderly, and differently abled beneficiaries, etc.
