About AVSI Jordan:

AVSI Foundation, an NGO created in 1972, carries out cooperation projects for development, with particular emphasis on education. In its work, its attention is focused on the defense and promotion of the dignity of the person, the cornerstone of every project. We work all around the world thanks to a network of 35 founding members and more than 700 partners worldwide.

AVSI Foundation has been operating in Jordan since 2006 and contributed in supporting the most vulnerable local communities, Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees through providing projects and activities that focus on health and psycho-social assistance, education, vocational training and job placement and income-generating activities.

About the project:

Under the Qudra 2 Project, a regional action co-financed by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis, the EU Madad Fund, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) seeking to strengthen the resilience of Syrian refugees. This project is implemented in four countries within the MENA region and Jordan is one of these countries.

One of our major thematic areas is strengthening the capacities of governmental institutions and civil society actors at organizational and individual levels by building their capacities in the development planning while concurrently ensuring municipalities are able to commit in the future to their roles and responsibilities and can establish strong planning and management systems.

AVSI, works with AECID to achieve that by enhancing the development planning path of the municipalities, by producing local development plans in six targeted municipalities in Mafraq governorate in Jordan which are the most affected municipalities by the Syrian crisis.

About the position:

The Community and stakeholders’ engagement officer will be responsible for the coordination with local stakeholders, municipalities, govermental intites, and also leading the field team in the data collection phase. The main responsabilities including but not limited to:

Role and responsibilities:

· Building and maintaining a fruitful relationship with local community, local partners and other stakeholders including preparation and coordination of meetings, workshops, events, etc;

· Coordinating with municipalities, ministries, CBOs, Local Development Units, GIS

departments… for collecting different data

· Leading Outreach staff in Data collection on the Field

· facilitating work with Municipalities, arranging for meetings, and building strong connections

· mapping services, CBOs, Donors and NGOs in each area with the support of the Outreach Workers

· make sure that the sample of people from the community to fill the surveys fits the project inclusive approach; include Women, Refugees, PwD…

· preparing different lists according to requirements and in coordination with different entities; e.g. identifying key informants, main stakeholders for each sector, list of vulnerable families, list of Syrians, PwD….

· coordinate with different suppliers for orders, deliveries, receiving items, receipts; E.g. snacks supplier, events suppliers…

· Ensuring that all procedures are followed by the field staff and follow them.

· Performing other tasks requested by the project manager such as reporting, meetings, networking, creating synergies between cash for work projects and other sectors, development of new interventions, etc.

Duty Station:

Mafraq Governorate; in the 6 targeted municipalities

AVSI’s office in Rihab. Some days are required to be in AVSI’s office in Amman.

Competencies:

· Languages: Arabic mother tongue, Excellent in English

· Minimum 3 years of experience in field coordination;

· Strong teamwork skills.

· Good knowledge of local context (Mafraq Governorate);

· Previous experience in community-based interventions;

· Strong communication skills and abilities to mobilize stakeholders;

Strong interpersonal skills.

· Experience in team leading and managing staff

· Experience in working with municipalities and governmental institutions

· Previous Experience in working with NGOs
