Project Description:
Creative Associates International is seeking a STEM Curriculum Coordinator for the anticipated USAID-funded Bridge to Middle School Project in Morocco. Based in Rabat, the project will support the Ministry of Education (MOE) in improving students’ ability to master keys skills in the upper primary and middle school grades (lower secondary). The project will: a) improve the ability of teachers to teach critical thinking, literacy, math, and science skills in upper primary grades; b) support the MOE’s ability to provide high quality literacy and instruction in Arabic and English in middle school; and c) support the MOE’s ability to provide high quality science, technology, and math in middle school.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
This position will provide technical support to the project in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math or subjects as required by the subject). The STEM Curriculum Coordinator will work closely with the Moroccan Ministry of Education to improve, facilitate, and deliver all STEM program activities and services. Responsibilities include:
- Work with project leadership to coordinate STEM curriculum development activities with related MOE and other donor efforts
- Identifying STEM STTA needs, developing STEM expert pool, engaging appropriate experts to meet evolving project needs, overseeing work for quality control
- Guide ministry review and assessment of the middle school STEM curriculum and materials (including teacher guides, textbooks, learning materials, assessments, etc.) to identify gaps across subjects and grade levels.
- Work with MOE stakeholders to build their capacity in assessing the STEM curriculum and integrate changes or alignment where needed across subjects and levels.
- Guide the development recommendations on how best to align middle school STEM curriculum with the primary school curriculum, and to improve the curriculum across middle school grades based on best practices for science learning.
- Manage all aspects of the participatory curriculum review and improvement process, including providing training to MOE stakeholders as needed, lead the process of revising and refining draft curricula and teaching materials, and lead regular follow up meetings with MOE stakeholders to ensure quality control and timeliness of curriculum review.
- Develop progress reports on the STEM activity and contribute to the development of the project’s quarterly and annual reports, and other relevant communications materials as needed.
- Work closely with the project’s M&E team to develop assessments instruments as needed**Qualifications**
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience. (Or Bachelor’s Degree with an additional 2-years of experience)
- A deep understanding of global best practices around middle school level curriculum development for STEM fields.
- Experience with curriculum design, review, and revision principles and practices, and prior experience working with government stakeholders.
- Experience is designing and delivering training workshops and managing working groups.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize literature, organize findings, and present coherent, well-thought-out recommendations related to curriculum alignment.
- Proficient level or fluency in Arabic and French is required. (Since the language of instruction in Middle School will be French)
Other skills/qualifications:
- STEM-focused master’s or bachelor’s degree in Education
- Knowledge of Moroccan education system preferred
- Strong English writing and communication skills as are a plus
- Prior work with USAID-funded programs preferred
