About the Job

The Storekeeper is responsible for proper storage of goods, stocks movement and receipts of goods in accordance to the standard operating procedures and in line with global warehousing standards.

This is a resident/national position based in Mogadishu.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper maintenance of the stock and warehouse in general, checks expiry dates, ensures warehouse is clean and fumigated
  • Receives and checks incoming goods against the delivery notes, ensures that all the stored goods are properly labelled and recorded; expiry dates, batch numbers and manufacturer details captured
  • Ensures proper and well documented stock movements; transmits the information related to the Cargo Manifest to the Dispatcher and produces the documents related to the orders, these will include packing list and export license
  • Ensures FIFO and FEFO procedure is applied when releasing stock
  • Reconciles suppliers, purchase orders forms (PO) against delivery forms and updates the purchaser accordingly
  • Weighs and tallies goods during loading and offloading
  • Updates bin cards and stock cards
  • Participates in the monthly and annual inventory counts and responds to any queries that may arise
  • Keeps the warehouse equipment and materials neat, clean and orderly
  • Receives and checks the deliveries from suppliers or transport agents and handles claims
  • Ensures a pest free warehouse, adequately safeguarded from fire and water damage
  • Follows cool storage rules and cool chain as required
  • Generates timely and accurate reports and ensures proper records management within the department

Minimum qualifications and required competencies

  • Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies Management, Stores Management or equivalent qualification in a related field of study
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar field
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali language
  • Excellent planning and organizational skill
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong numerical ability
  • Good knowledge of the Somalia context
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
