Salary : ?26,000 per annum pro rata, dependent on experience

About the role
We are recruiting a Stories Officer within our busy, talented and award-winning content team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a cross organisational story pipeline, deliver powerful and impactful stories for all key stakeholders and drive excellence in storytelling across the organisation. The Stories Team will enable a more efficient and effect ive approach and support the achievement of our ambitious brand relevance and supporter engagement aims. The Stories Team are part of a larger Content Team that is the centre of best practice in ethical story gathering and informed consent at the Red Cross and our Stories Officers play a key role in advocating this across the wider organisation.
What we are looking for
The creative content team plays a key role in helping to communicate ‘what we do’ in order to drive audience engagement. We are seeking to recruit a skilled ‘Stories Officer’ to join our award-winning Communications and Advocacy directorate. You’ll be passionate about telling powerful stories that get to the heart of our humanitarian work. To succeed in the role, you’ll be a confident communicator with a keen understanding of what makes an impactful story. With a solid professional background in a busy communications environment, you will hav e proven experience working with real life stories.
What you will be doing
Actively sourcing and gathering stories within the British Red Cross (including regular travel when appropriate) for use across multiple communications platforms
Delivering high-quality stories that communicate the impact of British Red Cross’ work and support fundraising and supporter engagement, media and policy, brand awareness and volunteer recruitment
Support the Stories Manager in updating and maintaining the ‘story planner’ and a ‘stories database’
Providing meaningful stewardship and aftercare of the ‘storytellers’ and ensure compliance with the safeguarding and informed consent policies.
Working in partnership with internal clients, you’ll need to negotiate demands whilst maintaining great working relationships and ensure that brilliant stories are gathere d on time and to budget.
Variety of work and fast pace will be the norm, with the team working on everything from social media content, fundraising materials, advocacy documents and flagship ‘out of home’ brand activity to emergency fundraising marketing.
About the Team
Reporting to the Stories Manager, you will be a key member of our in-house creative content team, a diverse and hugely talented set of multimedia producers, editors, story gatherers, designers and copywriters.
As part of the marketing communications department you’ll be working to bring the power of kindness to life through our comms, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation including media, brand, digital, supporter marketing and engagement, as well as our frontline operations teams across UK and around the world, to make a difference for people in crisis.
