MSI has a comprehensive, paid internship program that provides talented individuals an opportunity to gain practical skills and experience in a wide range of roles. We are proud to have worked in partnership with USAID, DFID and numerous other clients in some of the most challenging political and economic climates in the world.
This intern will provide support to the Central African Region Third-party Monioring (CART) project. CART monitors about ten organizations each month, which deliver humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people in central Africa. CART then prepares a report of its finding for each organization. The intern will review each of these reports each month to (1) identify any sections of the reports that are inconsistent or unclear, (2) rewrite the prose to professional standard writing, and (3) proofread and edit report to correct spelling and grammatical errors. On occasion, the intern will also be asked to review primary data to clarify report findings or develop graphs and tables.
This internship is perfect for individuals who are interested in:
- Reviewing and revising/editing short research reports prepared by teams conducting field research in central Africa and in Afghanistan.
- Analyzing or re-analyzing data collected by field teams, including interview notes or survey data.
- Supporting the development of IT dashboards that providing research data to clients.
- Supporting the SEA practice overall business strategy, including attending SEA meetings, taking notes, conducting research on potential clients or opportunities and editing products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a social science discipline (e.g., political science, sociology, anthropology) required
- Experience conducting or managing social science research, or analyzing social science research conducted by others. This could include surveys, key informant interviews or literature reviews. Statistical skills would be valuable, but are not required.
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Proficency in Microsoft Office Suite required, familiarity with SPSS, Stata or R are preferred
- Fluency in English required. Strong French language capabilities would be a plus
Our paid internship program is for people who are passionate about international development. Internships are generally seasonal but can last up to a year with mutual interest from both intern and team. Interns work a flexible schedule of 28 hours per week.
