Position: Student Support and Success Services Program Specialist

Position Summary:
The Coordinator of Student Support and Success Services is responsible for overseeing Student Programming in various topics. Responsible for the oversight and advising of RSOs including Sports and Recreation, and the Student Government Association, and the development and engagement of alumni clubs. Oversees the student conduct process, including policy development and revision. Oversight of student support initiatives such as Mental Health Services. Works in collaboration with QF Housing to ensure student connection, engagement, and general safety and support of students in residence. Teaches two-three first year seminar courses each semester as needed (and summer as needed).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Students Support
- Enhancing the student experience and retention through high-quality student programming, development, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Ensuring that students receive effective and active support and services to assist them in their academic and personal success throughout the student lifecycle.
- Provide internal and external communication from AUAF Student Success Office to all students, faculty, and staff.
- Responsible for student conduct hearing process both academic and behavioural
- Programing around cultural awareness, cultural adaptation
- Works in collaboration with members of AUAF and external partners on graduation and the presidents’ awards
- Responsible for leadership awards and other initiates that promote student success in and out of the classroom.
- Provide trainings for students around event planning.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude, philosophy, and commitment, which promotes student development and learning.
Assist Dean of Students
- Assisting the Dean of Students in maintaining the administrative effectiveness of the Student Affairs department as it pertains to outlined areas of responsibilities.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or Provost
Program and reporting
- Manage the facilitation of departmental assessment of programs, budget, and activities based on areas of oversight within Student Affairs
- Submit departmental reports to USAID as required based on the area of responsibility and all programming
- Oversee and routinely manage/update student rosters, student organizations and manuals.
- Serve as member of various committees, as assigned.
- Identify, establish, and manage all areas assigned in the Office of Student Success
Communication
- Create, maintain, and market online resources for the Student Success website in collaboration with the other coordinators and specialists in the department.
- Serve as an AUAF Representative with partners, such as QF Housing,
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or Provost
Required Qualification, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred
- 1-3years of experience in Student Affairs/ Student Success.
Other Skills
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of an academic environment
- Knowledge of theories and best practices of student development
- Excellent command of the English language
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality
- Knowledge of student conduct and discipline
- Ability and knowledge in maintaining a high degree of professionalism
- Ability to operate a personal computer including Microsoft Office programs
