Introduction
NB: This contract is for a period of one year, renewable for three years with the possibility of extending to 5 years
The 5-year Tudituale project in the DRC will increase the resilience of communities in the Kasaï Central province of the DRC. Farm Radio International (RRI) is a member of the project consortium and is leading work on communicating for social and behavioral change using interactive radio and other methods.
Position overview
The Project Coordinator oversees the planning, implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation and closure of the Tudituale project in the DRC. He or she directly supervises a small team of 1-2 technical officers in the RDC and collaborates closely with other RRI departments and staff at headquarters and at the regional level. The Coordinator reports primarily to the Senior Program Officer, West Africa.
Responsibilities
- Planning of the Tudituale project in the country
- Develop agreements/contracts with project partners or consultants
- Ensure that policies and approaches relating to RRI projects are respected
- Develop project implementation plans in collaboration with Project Managers and specialized teams
- Collaborate in the development of a codified spending plan in collaboration with the finance team
- Ensure that contributions from Specialist Teams are coordinated, validated and delivered
- Participate in planning meetings with donors or other members of the implementation consortium
Coordination of the implementation of the Tudituale project in the country
- Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans in collaboration with the project team
- Supervise the execution of project tasks and regularly update work plans
- Ensure that the contributions of the Specialized Teams correspond to the standards defined according to the work plan
- Make logistical arrangements for effective implementation (e.g. availability of means of transport, authorizations, advance payments)
- Ensure that all project-related expenses are properly codified and recorded and ensure that spending plans are updated when necessary
- Review and finalize implementation plans, documents and reports
- Coordinate contributions and manage the development and submission of reports to donors according to schedule
Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (SERA)
Under the supervision of the Specialist Manager of the SERA team and in close collaboration with the Principal Program Officer, West Africa, the person sought will contribute to monitoring-evaluation, research, learning and sharing activities. knowledge of the organization. More specifically, he/she must:
- Contribute to the design of survey tools and other evaluation instruments
- Participate in data generated from surveys, interviews, qualitative assessments, listener responses to on-air/online surveys
- Contribute to the drafting of baseline study, mid-term evaluation and final evaluation reports
- Write project summaries (briefs) highlighting project results, learnings and best practice implications
- Organize or contribute to the experience of capitalization processes with project partners and stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, qualifications and requirements
- 5+ years of experience in project coordination, particularly in communication for development or rural development
- University degree or certificate in agriculture, communication, international development, environmental studies or related field, a master’s degree (an asset)
- Experience in team coordination
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent research, data evaluation and writing skills
Knowledge and skills
- Significant knowledge of the principles of gender equality and women’s rights and experience in integrating these principles into the project cycle
- Knowledge and experience in project development and implementation, including results-based management
- Knowledge of the principles of communication for development and/or broadcasting and ICTs
- Knowledge of national or international donors and strategic or implementing partners in West Africa
- Fluency in French, with very good written and oral communication skills
Others
- Excellent intercultural communication skills
- Good organizational and time management skills; ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Be comfortable working with minimal supervision and limited resources
- Good English skills and knowledge of other DRC languages
- Willing to work from Kasia Centrale
- Experience working in international NGOs
- Knowledge of the Feminist Policy of Canadian International Assistance
