Job Description Details:

Job objective:

Supporting the project management in achieving the project objectives from the engineering side by controlling the quality of work according to engineering standards and technical and administrative supervision of the team of field engineers and contractors to ensure the implementation of the school restoration project works according to the technical conditions and approved specifications, while adhering to quality, schedule and budget, and submitting periodic reports to the project manager.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Project planning:

1. Contribute to the preparation of project plans, including defining the scope of work, estimated budget, and timelines.

2. Study and analyze the needs of the targeted schools in coordination with the relevant authorities.

3. Preparing the engineering studies required for the project, including drawing engineering plans and preparing specifications and quantity tables according to engineering standards.

• Follow-up field work:

1. Visit work sites periodically, follow up on the progress of work, and solve problems that may arise.

2. Reviewing the contractor’s work and ensuring that it conforms to the technical specifications, engineering designs, and required standards, according to the technical specifications and agreed timetables.

3. Monitoring the quality of materials used and ensuring their compliance with specifications.

4. Supervising the receipt of final works and ensuring their compliance with the technical specifications.

• Supervising the field team:

1. Managing a team of field engineers, distributing tasks, monitoring their performance, and providing the necessary technical support.

2. Review daily follow-up reports and implementation plans from the field team to ensure that work is proceeding properly.

3. Providing technical and administrative guidance and feedback to the field team to ensure efficient implementation of work.

• Reporting and documentation:

1. Preparing periodic technical reports on project progress and engineering observations and submitting them to the project manager.

2. Review and approve field reports prepared by field engineers and document any amendments to the project implementation plan.

3. Save and archive all technical documents and drawings related to the project.

• Coordination and communication:

1. Coordination between the various parties concerned with the project, including the project manager, contractor, local authorities, and other departments in the organization to ensure optimal project implementation and documentation.

2. Hold periodic meetings with the project manager, contractor and field team to discuss project progress and resolve issues.

3. Ensure that the principles of gender equality and social inclusion are integrated into project activities and work environment practices, while respecting and promoting diversity in the workplace.

Required academic qualification:

University degree in civil engineering, architecture or related disciplines

Required technical qualifications:

– At least 5 years of experience in engineering supervision, preferably in restoration or construction projects.

– Previous experience working with humanitarian organizations of not less than 3 years.

– Skill and experience in using AutoCAD and GIS engineering programs.

– Proficiency in computer programs and using Microsoft Office programs at an advanced level.

Required skills:

– Good command of written and spoken English.

– Leadership skills and the ability to manage work teams and motivate them to achieve project goals.

– Strong communication skills to deal with field teams, contractors and stakeholders.

– Ability to work under pressure.

– Analytical skills and ability to plan and manage engineering projects and the ability to analyze problems and make quick decisions based on data.

– Reporting skills

– Extensive knowledge of technical specifications, building materials, quality standards and occupational health and safety regulations.
