The Role

Reporting to the Operations/HR Manager, the Supply Chain Officer is responsible for coordinating logistics activities including supply chain, transportation and purchasing, and for assisting to establish efficient systems for the start-up period.

We do this work through an existing network of Catholic Sisters and the safe spaces they operation. By honoring the work of the Sisters and amplifying the services they provide, Alight helps to build new pathways and narratives for families in El Salvador through livelihoods and protection activities.

Alight has an office in San Salvador and works in the communities of Apopa, La Chacra and Soyapango in San Salvador.

Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. For now, here’s how you could anticipate spending your time:

· Oversee supply chain to ensure that there is no disruption in the operations support necessary for ongoing daily activities

· Organize the transportation of material, equipment and personnel to the communities as planned by the program team.

· Prepare all procurement documents and submit them in a timely manner to program managers / operation for review and approval.

· Facilitate and negotiate the lowest possible price for good quality materials and services.

· Prepares fuel request and submit them to Program manager / operation for approval.

· Prepares monthly Vehicle and generators fuel consumption reports.

· Assists in the preparation and physical verifications of ARC fixed assets.

· Make physical inventories / spot checks in Alight office and both communities’ youth centers.

· Ensures good maintenance services in Alight office.

· Ensure regular maintenance of Alight assets.

· Prepares monthly statistical reports of all receipts and shipments of supplies.

· Make a schedule for Alight drivers and security guards.

· Travel to the communities regularly to support programming.

· Ensure Alight is in compliance with all local labor laws, and minimization of legal exposure.

· Maintain and record of all Alight capital and non-capital Assets.

· Technical assistance in the area of supply chain as outlined in grant and/or closing meetings to ensure smooth and consistent programming

· Ensure regular communications are maintained between the communities and the San Salvador office

Qualifications

We’re looking for the following education, technical skills, & knowledge:

· A minimum of 3 to 4 years of logistics experience

· Demonstrated attention to detail, following procedures, meeting deadlines and working and problem-solving independently and cooperatively

· Knowledge of NGO systems and procedures desirable

· University Degree in a related degree

· Excellent negotiation and representation skills

· Strong computer and reporting skills, especially Excel

· Effective verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.

· Intermediate level of English is preferred

· Must be willing to travel to insecure communities (under Alight’s security protocols)
