Supply Chain Specialist – Ukraine Regional Crisis At ShelterBox

Salary: £34,000 per annum

Hours: Full time, (37.5 hours per week). Flexible hours considered.

Location: Truro, Cornwall, or Remote Working (with regular travel to Truro)

Travel: Regular travel to Eastern Europe for up to 1 month at a time, including within Ukraine.

Role purpose:
ShelterBox is searching for an experienced supply chain professional to join our agile and ambitious International Programmes Department to work on our Ukraine regional response. This is a dynamic and impactful role.

ShelterBox began responding to the Ukraine crisis in February 2022. To support the long term needs of those affected, ShelterBox is recruiting a Programme Team to oversee shelter projects in Eastern Europe. The Supply Chain Specialist will work within this core team, and with the wider International Programmes Department, to coordinate the supply of humanitarian shelter assistance to the region.

The Supply Chain Specialist will oversee the delivery of humanitarian shelter aid through importation, local/regional procurement and CVA. A strong knowledge of international logistics and Supplier Relationship Management is essential. Prior experience of establishing emergency supply chains for humanitarian projects is highly desirable.
This role covers the emergency and expected recovery phases of ShelterBox’s support to Ukraine.

The SCS will always work within the charity’s aims, objectives and values and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Please note that this role may be reallocated to another programme according to business needs.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Coordinate the supply elements of projects supporting Ukraine and surrounding region including assessing supply options and routes, importation of aid, developing last-mile supply plans, local procurement and CVA to ensure high quality, timely responses
• Actively be involved with project design and delivery
• Be involved with the management of global prepositioned stock inventory
• Coordinating the preparation and provision of relevant documentation, and tendering freight requests to freight providers to ensure best value, service and accountability for movement of relief supplies
• Deploy regularly to Eastern Europe to support projects as needed. It is expected that this will be for a duration of up to 1 month at a time.
• Establish, develop and lead on good relationships with freight forwarders, stock and services suppliers, other humanitarian actors, relevant government departments and logistics coordination mechanisms at both global and local levels
• Plan and deliver procurement and inventory audits as required
• Be involved with programme preparedness in a supply chain capacity
• Work with the International Programmes Department to set up partnerships with other organisations including appraisal of supply chain capacity
• Contribute to driving forward changes to meet our sustainable supply chain targets e.g., significant reduction in carbon emissions and reporting
• Support with supply chain risk management.
• Give regular briefings internally and externally
• Developing and delivering logistics training internally and to partners
• Maintain excellent information management of logistics systems including updating records to ensure accurate record keeping and accountability of aid assets
• Promote and demonstrate humanitarian principles in all activities
• Ensure adherence to ShelterBox procedures and policies including those relating to safeguarding, safety and security
• Any other duties as required which are deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post
