The Africa hub currently consists of a hub manager and four desk managers as well as two program support officers and three health officers. The hub’s activities focus on emergency and crisis programs, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and harm reduction (drug use and sex work).

The post

Reporting to one of the desk managers, your main responsibilities are to assist the operational teams of the Africa division and the desk managers of the Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia and Tanzania missions in the implementation, monitoring and management of programs, financing contracts and various cross-functional activities.

Your missions include:

Strategy, monitoring and exploratory missions

  • Assist desk managers in contextual analyses and in the preparation of new exploratory missions
  • Contribute to the review of country strategies and the development of programmatic strategies

Project management

  • Ensure a functional link with the people responsible for grants on the missions and establish timetables with them, participate in their recruitment
  • Coordinate (and contribute to) the proofreading, finalization and submission of various donor documents
  • Provide the interface between members of the Médecins du Monde network and field teams in monitoring financing contracts or with a view to project proposals
  • Participate in the review of contracts or agreements with partners, donors or network members
  • Participate in the consolidation and dissemination of information relating to the essential points of lessor contracts and projects
  • Assist desk managers in developing financing strategies and seeking funding
  • Assist missions in defining their activity monitoring system and in setting up surveys, studies or project evaluations
  • Write and distribute meeting minutes
  • Participate in team briefings (field and headquarters)
  • Initiate document translations and ensure their distribution

Mentoring an intern

  • In collaboration with the second support officer of the Africa division, support and ensure regular monitoring of the division’s intern in carrying out their missions
  • Carry out mid-term and final assessments of the internship
  • Recruit the next intern

Required profile

  • Master in International Solidarity
  • At least one year of NGO experience in grant management or project management, ideally in an international setting
  • Experience in writing reports and proposals for humanitarian projects, knowledge of donors
  • Mastering the project cycle
  • Written communication, sense of synthesis

  • The ability to work in a team
  • Fluent in French and English

Conditions of employment

  • Position to be filled under a fixed-term contract (CDD) from September 13, 2024 to January 6, 2025
  • Gross monthly salary of 2,991 euros
  • Job status: employee
  • Equivalent to 13th month paid in 2 installments – from 6 months of actual work seniority
  • Mutual insurance (60% participation by MdM and 40% by the employee)
  • 22.5 RTT / year
  • 5 weeks of paid vacation / year
  • Meal vouchers worth 9.00 euros (60% contribution from MdM)
  • 50% reimbursement of public transport tickets
  • Teleworking agreement subject to eligibility of your position: 110 days of teleworking per year (i.e. an average of 2.5 days of teleworking per week) with the obligation to work in person at least 5 days per month
